Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument, though the position is somewhat underdeveloped. While you state you 'partially agree', the arguments provided for both sides are brief and lack depth. For instance, the point about 'flex' is mentioned but not fully explored in terms of its social implications. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your ideas with more detailed explanations and specific examples. The conclusion summarizes the points well, but the overall development of the argument remains somewhat superficial. Ensure that each paragraph clearly links back to your central position to provide a more cohesive and persuasive argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'First and the foremost', 'To illustrate this', and 'On the other hands'. However, some of these are used mechanically or incorrectly (e.g., 'On the other hands' should be 'On the other hand'). The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the transitions between sentences could be smoother. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, which slightly affects the flow. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words will help create a more natural and sophisticated progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are frequent errors in word choice and spelling that occasionally impede clarity, such as 'luxuries attire' (luxury attire), 'purchesing' (purchasing), and 'infronet' (in front). You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'branded', 'fabric', and 'local shopkeepers', which is positive. However, the range is somewhat limited, and the repetition of basic words like 'clothes' and 'money' suggests a need for more synonyms and collocations. To improve, focus on learning word families and common collocations to express your ideas with greater precision and fewer spelling errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('individual think', 'human wants', 'it will helps') and incorrect article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While these errors do not completely prevent understanding, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To achieve a higher band, you need to focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that verbs agree with their subjects and that articles are used correctly. Proofreading for these common errors is essential.
