Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people believe that it is often useful to purchase few branded clothes whereas others opine that it is better to buy cheaper clothes. In the forthcoming paragraphs both the perspectives will be discussed along with my opinion at the end.
On the one hand, there are myriad reasons that some individuals favour that expensive clothes are having the better quality of the product which resulted in having long lasting results without any fear of having dullness or torn off. For instance, Purchases a jacket from Gucci worth $ 1080 in May 2022. The experience was so nice that it seems so light, easy to carry, kept in any situation, can be worn out in any extreme weather situations and is still in the same situation like in 2022.
on the other hand, other people oppose this notion, first and foremost reason stated by them is people like to have variety of clothes to wear new pair every day in 365 days. In addition to this, women specifically do not like to wear repetitive clothes because it inculcate the habit for show off for the collection of the products. To illustrate, Women usually buy traditional clothes and like to wear once only and kept that back in the wardrobe as she has already enjoyed the event and all the people has seen off that style so it is no more useful for her, in this situation spending more money on one dress will create a problem because this will not be worn again.
To recapitulate, i believe that both the arguments have their merits but i personally believe in not to spend too much money on the expensive items and enjoyed a mixture of more affordable clothes because it will add more to your personality by keeping your pocket in budget.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The example regarding the Gucci jacket is specific but lacks a clear connection to the broader argument about the value of quality versus quantity. The second body paragraph relies on generalizations about women's shopping habits, which weakens the logical progression of the argument. While the position is maintained throughout, the supporting points could be more sophisticated and better linked to the core debate of long-term value versus immediate variety.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'In addition to this', and 'To recapitulate'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical or awkward, such as in the transition between the jacket example and the conclusion of that paragraph. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the second body paragraph where the subject shifts abruptly. While the overall structure is logical, the internal cohesion within paragraphs needs more refinement to achieve a higher band score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. There are several instances of awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'opine that it is better', 'resulted in having long lasting results', and 'seen off that style'. The phrase 'inculcate the habit for show off' is also non-standard. While the meaning is generally clear, the vocabulary is somewhat repetitive and lacks the flexibility required for higher bands. Expanding the range of topic-specific vocabulary related to consumerism and fashion would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include 'expensive clothes are having the better quality', 'Purchases a jacket' (incorrect subject-verb agreement/fragment), and 'all the people has seen off that style'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization and comma usage. While the errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they are frequent enough to suggest a lack of control over more complex grammatical forms.
