Student answer (Band 6.5)
Some people believe that buying fewer expensive clothes is more beneficial than buying large number of cheaper clothes. I firmly agree with this statement because investing in luxury clothes not only provides quality assurance but also help in sustaining environment. This essay will explain the advantages of buying expensive garments in the upcoming paragraphs including relevant examples.
The primary reason is that costly outfits ensure long term financial benefit because of their better durability and great comfort. Luxury garments also give a sense of confidence and enhance personality. For example, purchasing an expensive winter coat is more beneficial they are made up of special kind of wool that helps in providing more warmth as compared to cheaper ones. In addition, society often connects clothing with tradition and culture so it is essential that they should be made using high-quality materials.
On the other hand, cheaper clothes tend to wear out quickly after few weeks of wearing as they are made of poor and cheap quality materials. Furthermore, they are mass-produced resulting in less attention to details. As they get damage so often people often throw them away producing pollution as some of the clothes cannot be recycled, affecting an environment. To exemplify, youngsters nowadays, throw away their clothes after putting on few times because they do not want to repeat them anymore.
In conclusion, although cheaper clothes help low-income people to fulfill their basic need of clothing, expensive garments outweigh as they provide better durability, great comfort and every penny spend on them.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have clearly stated your position in the introduction and maintained it throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant, such as the focus on durability, financial benefits, and environmental impact. However, some points are slightly under-developed. For instance, the link between clothing and 'tradition and culture' is mentioned but not explained or connected back to the argument about expensive versus cheap clothes. To reach a higher band, ensure that every supporting point directly reinforces your main argument with more detailed explanation or specific, illustrative examples. Overall, you have addressed all parts of the prompt effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'The primary reason', 'In addition', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore' to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes a bit mechanical. Additionally, there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the transition between the environmental impact and the example of youngsters. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different themes, which helps the overall readability of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'quality assurance', 'mass-produced', and 'sustain'. There are some instances of slightly awkward phrasing, such as 'every penny spend on them' (should be 'spent') and 'after few weeks of wearing'. While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, there are occasional errors in word choice and collocation that slightly limit precision. To improve, focus on using collocations more naturally and ensuring that word forms are accurate in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('after few weeks', 'affecting an environment'), subject-verb agreement issues ('help in sustaining'), and minor punctuation slips. Some sentences are slightly fragmented or lack grammatical precision, such as 'As they get damage so often people often throw them away'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing your control over articles and sentence construction will help.
