Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 201 words. This significantly impacts the development of your ideas. While you introduce the topic and state a position, the body paragraphs are severely underdeveloped. The second paragraph provides a brief example, but the third paragraph is incomplete, containing empty placeholders like 'This is because.' and 'For instance, .'. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. To improve, you must expand your arguments with detailed explanations and concrete examples to ensure the essay is fully developed and meets the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is hindered by the lack of content. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion', which helps the flow. However, the third paragraph is incoherent due to the missing information, which disrupts the overall structure. Referencing is generally clear, but the lack of substance makes the essay feel like an outline rather than a fully formed piece of writing. To improve, ensure every paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by fully developed supporting ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band score. You rely on simple phrases like 'good quality' and 'main arguments'. There are some inaccuracies, such as 'durable pr' (which appears to be an incomplete word) and 'material of cheap clothes are generally low of quality' (should be 'is generally of low quality'). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and topic-specific vocabulary related to consumer habits, sustainability, or economic value.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. For example, 'material of cheap clothes are' should be 'the material of cheap clothes is', and 'a lots of' is grammatically incorrect. There are also punctuation issues, such as starting a sentence with 'Which' as a fragment. While the meaning is generally understandable, these errors occur throughout the text. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that complex sentences are constructed correctly without fragmenting your ideas.
