Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people better to buy just a few expensive clothes and other people buy lots of cheaper clothes.

The relationship between buy just a few expensive clothes or lots of cheaper clothes is a subject of debate among people from all walks of life.

I agree with buy few expensive clothes.

first of all, expensive clothes made from good quality material and long time for usable. Example Like a jacket we are not buy frequently. One time buy and used for long time. Therefor , people do not purchese the same thing for long time.

One more reason is envirement friendly. We are use good materiale clothes that is work for long time that why less waste we are throw in garbage. And also good materiale may be recycleble.

Another end every one not have bauget for buy good quality clothese. Some clothe no need for long time. Like some clothes for some special event or temporary use. There is no need to use more money.

Nowadays everyday fashion change and coming new in market. So some people thinking cheaper clothes is good for only fashion.

Here my one more opinion is some people buy few clothes expensive and few clothes cheaper. for example like jacket and shoes buy expensive because of that item use for long time. And another thing is like T-shirt and trouser buy cheaper because that item change everyday.

To conclude, people depend on budget , requirement ,type and fashion.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position, though the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. The essay falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the depth of the argument. While you provide reasons such as quality and environmental impact, the explanation for these points is brief and lacks sufficient elaboration. To improve, ensure you fully develop each supporting point with more detailed examples or logical consequences. Additionally, the conclusion is somewhat contradictory to your initial stance, as it suggests a balanced approach rather than maintaining the position you stated at the beginning.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is often disrupted by awkward phrasing and a lack of effective cohesive devices. Transitions between ideas are frequently missing or mechanical, such as the abrupt shift in the final paragraph. While there is an attempt to use linking words like 'first of all' and 'to conclude', the internal structure of the paragraphs is weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your argument. Improving the use of cohesive devices and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the readability of your work.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive, with frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'purchese', 'envirement', 'materiale', and 'bauget'. You rely on simple, high-frequency words, which limits your ability to express complex ideas with precision. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language. To reach a higher band, you should focus on expanding your vocabulary related to consumer habits and sustainability, and pay closer attention to the correct spelling and collocation of words. Using a more varied range of vocabulary would help convey your points more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence structure (e.g., 'Some people better to buy' instead of 'Some people prefer to buy'). The range of grammatical structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. Complex sentence attempts are often faulty or incomplete. To improve, you need to focus on basic sentence construction, including correct verb forms and word order. Practicing the use of complex sentences with correct punctuation will also help you demonstrate a wider range of grammatical control.
