Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The main arguments are relevant, though the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about quality versus quantity is introduced but not fully explored with deep analysis. The conclusion reinforces the stance well. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand your supporting points with more detailed explanations or specific real-world examples, rather than relying on personal hypothetical scenarios like 'if I buy so many cheap clothes'. Overall, the response is balanced and directly answers the question.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different viewpoints. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as the sentence 'some people that it is better to buy just few expensive clothes', which is missing a verb and lacks a smooth connection to the previous sentence. Improving the flow between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'beneficial', 'practical', and 'drawbacks'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of awkward phrasing or minor errors, such as 'a lots of cheaper clothes' (should be 'a lot of' or 'lots of') and 'the material of the expensive clothes are' (subject-verb agreement error). To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and a wider variety of academic vocabulary to express your ideas with more sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that slightly impede the flow. Examples include missing verbs ('some people that it is better'), incorrect article usage ('a lots of'), and subject-verb agreement issues ('the material... are'). Punctuation is generally fine, but the sentence structure could be more varied. To achieve a higher score, focus on eliminating these basic errors and increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences.
