Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument and providing a clear, albeit simple, personal position. The ideas are relevant, such as the durability of expensive items versus the budget constraints of lower-income individuals. However, the development is somewhat limited; the examples provided, such as the 'American eagle' survey, are generic and lack depth. To reach a higher band, the arguments need more sophisticated elaboration and more specific, real-world context. The conclusion is brief and merely restates the introduction rather than synthesising the points made.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'On the other side', but these are somewhat mechanical and repetitive. There are instances where referencing is slightly unclear, such as the phrase 'human beings who belongs to the lower socioeconomic status'. While the overall arrangement is coherent, the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and better sentence-to-sentence transitions to avoid a choppy feel.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There is a reliance on basic terms like 'good quality', 'cheaper clothes', and 'expensive ones'. Some collocations are unnatural, such as 'shop the fewer expensive clothes' and 'middle class human beings'. While the meaning is generally clear, there is little attempt to use less common or idiomatic vocabulary. To improve, you should focus on using more precise terminology related to consumer habits and economic status, and ensure that word choices are contextually appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('some people says', 'human beings who belongs'), incorrect article usage, and punctuation errors, such as the unnecessary space before the comma in 'says that ,'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and refining punctuation, while also attempting to incorporate more varied complex sentence structures with greater accuracy.
