Student answer (Band 5.0)

Clothes plays a crucial role in the shaping of any individual personality. In this modern situation it has become a tough that having a fewer costly costumes is better instead of investing buying a lots of cheaper clothes. I completely disagree with this statement due to some reasons and I will explain it in the impending paragraph.

To begin with, there are some reasons why peo individuals should invest in less costly costumes to have lot of clothes. Firstly, more clothes provide more options. To explain it, if masses don't buy many expensive clothes, they can buy more cheaper clothes that's gives them many option for wearing different type of clothes on distinct occasions instead of wearing the same clothes.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you clearly state your position in the introduction, the arguments provided are underdeveloped and repetitive. For example, the point about 'financial balance' is unclear and lacks specific examples or logical depth. Because the essay is under-length, the ideas are not fully extended, and the response feels incomplete. To improve, you must expand on your points with concrete examples and ensure you meet the minimum length requirement to allow for a full exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the structure is fragmented. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the awkward transition 'again and again. Moreover,' which disrupts the flow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the paragraphing is inconsistent, with some sentences appearing as isolated lines. While there is a basic logical progression, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the disjointed nature of the sentences make the text difficult to follow at times. Improving the use of transition signals and ensuring sentences are logically connected within paragraphs is essential.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'clothes' and 'costumes' throughout. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'tough that having a fewer costly costumes' and 'keep people balance by financial.' These errors occasionally impede the clarity of your message. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary, including more precise adjectives and nouns related to fashion and consumer habits, and focus on using words in their correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('Clothes plays'), article usage, and sentence structure ('it has become a tough that having a fewer costly costumes'). The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with some attempts at complex ones that are often faulty. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the line breaks that disrupt the flow of the text. Focusing on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for common errors will help improve your score in this area.
