Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is an ongoing debate about clothes that whether one should purchase few expensive than buying a bunch of cheaper ones. My opinion in this matter resides with buying few expensive clothes. In this essay we will discuss the reasons for my favor in this opinion with related examples.
The first and foremost reason for agreement would be "Hoarding". It is the habit of purchasing a lot of stuff without thinking and then having difficulty to throw it. When there are more options available in less prices it often leads to that. With that numerous problems occurs such as creating clutter in our wardrobe and impulsive shopping. To site an example, in a newspaper article it was shown that how 85% of Americans are currently suffering from hoarding specially women who are purchasing lots of beauty products that they don't even use.
Another point is that expensive clothes can generally offer more biodegradable cloth options. However , with companies aiming to target larger amount of people with less prices this is not possible as biodegradable cloth prices are generally on the higher end. As the clothes are biodegradable it is more beneficial for the environment as after wearing them we can compost or recycle them. As bridgeable clothes are made up of natural materials such as wool, hemp so we don't have to rely on plastic materials such as polyester.
In conclusion i believe that purchasing fewer expensive clothes have more benefits as it prevent hoarding and they offer more biodegradable options which is environment friendly as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The argument regarding 'hoarding' is relevant, but the example provided (Americans and beauty products) is only tangentially related to the topic of clothing. The second point regarding biodegradable materials is a strong, relevant argument, but it could have been expanded further to explain why expensive clothes are inherently more durable or better quality beyond just material composition. To reach a higher band, ensure that all examples directly support the specific claim about clothing rather than general consumer habits.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'The first and foremost reason' and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the phrase 'it often leads to that' in the second paragraph, which lacks a clear antecedent. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the connection between the paragraphs could be smoother to create a more cohesive argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. There are some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'in my favor in this opinion' and 'bridgeable clothes' (likely a typo for 'biodegradable'). The range of vocabulary is somewhat repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'expensive' and 'cheaper'. To improve, you should aim to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and topic-specific collocations, such as 'fast fashion', 'sustainable consumption', or 'durability'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'purchase few expensive than buying' (should be 'fewer expensive items than'), 'in less prices' (should be 'at lower prices'), and 'numerous problems occurs' (subject-verb agreement error). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and preposition usage.
