Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people think that buying the few expensive clothes is better than buying the lots of cheaper ones. I completely agree with this statement. This essay will discuss the reasons behind my agreement.
To begin with, buying the expensive clothes boost their confidence. When people wear branded clothes instead of cheaper ones, they feel more confident and motivated in their life. In today’s world, clothes that people wear’s describe their personality. Therefore wearing the good material clothes makes people happy in their lives. For instance, two weeks later I had a interview related to my work and I have many clothes included the cheaper ones. But when i wore the cheaper cloth it dulls my spark. Then, i have the jacket that I bought from Zara . I felt so much confident after wearing that jacket as it looks so good on me . I passed my interview because i had proper confidence at that time.
Furthermore, cheaper clothes have weak materials. On the other hand, expensive clothes lasts for very long time as they are made up of good synthetic material. It also saves the money of people as it is more beneficial for them to buy less clothes but with good branded condition. Also, it also saves the time of people as they will wear expensive and branded clothes for longer time.
In conclusion, i completely agree with the statement that people should buy just a few expensive clothes instead of lots of cheaper ones because it boosts their confidence and saves their money as well as time.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, focusing on confidence and durability/cost-effectiveness. However, the development is somewhat limited. The personal example regarding the interview is a bit anecdotal and could be more effectively linked to the broader argument. While the main points are clear, they lack depth and could benefit from more sophisticated reasoning or broader societal context. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, but the overall development remains at a basic level, preventing it from reaching a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs can be slightly disjointed. For example, the transition between the general statement about personality and the specific interview example is abrupt. Referencing is generally clear, but the paragraphing is standard and lacks the sophisticated management of ideas required for higher bands.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'clothes', 'cheaper', and 'expensive'. While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'branded' and 'synthetic material', the collocations are occasionally unnatural, such as 'good branded condition'. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'buying the few expensive clothes' (should be 'buying a few expensive clothes'). The range is sufficient to communicate the message, but it does not demonstrate the flexibility or sophistication expected at higher levels.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the few expensive clothes'), subject-verb agreement ('clothes lasts'), and pronoun usage ('people wear’s'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with irregular spacing around commas and periods. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to demonstrate a lack of control over complex structures. The student relies heavily on basic sentence patterns, and the errors in basic grammar prevent a higher score.
