Student answer (Band 6.0)

Clothes are one of the basic needs of the humans. There is a mindset of the some people that it is better to have a few clothes with them but one should need to make sure that it should be costly. I am totally disagree with the idea of buying few luxury clothes over the cheaper clothes.

It is generally seen that trends of clothing are changing quite frequently. The clothes that we use to wear a decade ago are not in demand today so if the person spend a lot of money on clothing and trend got change than that clothes are waste . For example, people in India were no more wore the Kurta Pajama as now they are adopting the western culture such as trousers and t- shirts. Moreover, one needs to take care of it a lot, if there is any strain appear can not be taken of then whole set of clothes need to dumped down and there is money loss as well. In spite of this sometimes a person gain or loss his weight in that case also there is no option other than to throw away the clothes even they are worn only a few times.

However, one cannot ignore their long lasting and comfort features as the good quality of clothes will last for longer time and there is a guarantee that the person can wear the certain piece without for a longer time without any problem. To exemplify, if the clothes are made of fine quality of threads one would be comfortable and wear those for more than normal time.

To conclude, expensive clothes are useful on certain occasion while cheaper clothes can be replaced or changed according to trends or size of the body.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed the prompt by taking a clear position against buying only expensive clothes. You provide relevant reasons, such as changing fashion trends and the practical issue of weight fluctuations. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about 'long lasting and comfort features' in the third paragraph is brief and could have been expanded with more specific examples or a deeper analysis of the cost-per-wear argument. While your position is clear throughout, the supporting arguments would benefit from more depth to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Moreover', 'However', and 'To exemplify', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs is occasionally interrupted by grammatical errors. For example, the transition in the second paragraph regarding weight gain is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'that clothes') is more precise would enhance the overall flow and coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your meaning, such as 'frequently', 'adopting', and 'fluctuations'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'dumped down' instead of 'discarded' or 'thrown away', and 'gain or loss his weight' instead of 'gains or loses weight'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your expression. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more academic synonyms for everyday verbs.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('trends of clothing are changing', 'there is a mindset of the some people'), article usage ('the humans'), and tense inconsistencies ('people in India were no more wore'). While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your point, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will help improve your accuracy.
