Student answer (Band 6.5)
In the contemporary era, a trend of wearing different variation of clothes has been increasing significantly. Expensive clothes have greater quality and durability than cheaper clothes and that is why many people tend to buy branded one than the local ones. Although, people can change their styles with cheap clothes, I believe expensive clothes represent social status. Therefore, I agree with the statement.
On the one hand, people may found cheaper clothes more affordable and that is why they tend to buy ones. Influencers or Models would prefer to wear these types of clothes because they have to promote many products and stay updated on social media. Therefore, to look unique and fulfill their first priority they would prefer to wear affordable clothes. However, these clothes come with lower quality as a result, they get easily torn. In addition, these materials may easily shrink with warm water wash. Hence, an individual may face trouble wearing cheaper clothes because of durability, shrink and low quality.
On the other hand, branded clothes provide quality over price. Qualitative clothes can create positive social image as, type of clothes can represent our first impression. People start to make assumptions since first look. Therefore, a look of an expensive cloth may speak loader for personality. Apart from this, people may wear these clothes more often without feeling hesitated because it also show the brand name and which will be unique and impressive every time.
To conclude, although cheaper quality of clothes are more affordable, it might not provide quality and durability. expensive clothes can help to maintain social respect, impression, and provide higher quality.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The arguments regarding durability and social status are relevant and logically developed. However, the development is somewhat limited; for instance, the point about influencers is a bit tangential and could have been more directly linked to the core debate of quality versus quantity. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your supporting examples with more depth and nuance, ensuring every sentence directly reinforces your central argument regarding the value of expensive versus cheap clothing.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'To conclude,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or repetitive, and there are minor issues with referencing (e.g., 'these materials may easily shrink' follows a sentence about clothes, which is clear, but the flow could be smoother). The progression of ideas is generally logical, though the connection between paragraphs could be tightened to improve the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'contemporary era,' 'durability,' and 'social status.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'wearing different variation of clothes' (should be 'variations'), 'speak loader' (should be 'speak louder'), and 'feeling hesitated' (should be 'feeling hesitant'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your expression. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise collocations would significantly improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and pluralization, such as 'people may found' (should be 'find'), 'branded one' (should be 'branded ones'), and 'cheaper quality of clothes are' (should be 'is'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some issues with comma usage. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed without errors.
