Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays people buy more clothes than earlier. Buying some clothes empty your pockets while other are quite reasonable. In this essay i will discuss my opinion on this subject.
In my opinion buying expensive clothes is beneficial rather than cheaper clothes. Firstly, these pricy clothes are more long lasting as they are mostly made good with quality material. One would have to shop less and end up saving money at the end. Also, these clothes have good look and feel when you wear them.
Additionally, if you buy expensive clothes your closet would have less clothes comparatively hence you be able mange them well it terms of wearing them on daily basis. Furthermore, it is also easy to manage the closet by keeping it clean and organize.
On the other hand, Cheap clothes will damage easily. For instance, it can get spoil in just one wash. These clothes are not pricy at the store, but frequent shopping of clothes could end up spending more.
Cheap clothes don't last for long time therefore, people have to get more clothes frequently which would be quite wastage of money. Moreover, these cheap clothes end up in the landfill later which damage the environment. In has been researched that many clothes end up in rivers and lake in many Asian and south American country which harms many marine animals.
To sum up, it is better to have few expensive clothes that long last and are good quality so as to save money and to be organize. Buying cheap clothes not only waste resources but also damages the environment to large extend.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. You have provided relevant arguments regarding durability, cost-effectiveness, and environmental impact. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the point about 'managing the closet' is a bit vague and could have been expanded with more specific examples of how owning fewer items simplifies life. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explored with more depth and nuance rather than just stating the benefit. Overall, the response is relevant and covers all parts of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Additionally', 'Furthermore', and 'On the other hand' to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, there are minor issues with referencing and flow; for example, the transition between the environmental impact and the conclusion could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and better pronoun referencing to avoid repetition.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'landfill', 'marine animals', and 'environment'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'made good with quality material' (should be 'made of high-quality material') and 'get spoil' (should be 'get spoiled'). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on simpler terms. To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and less common lexical items to demonstrate a higher level of control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('these clothes have good look', 'many clothes end up in rivers and lake'), article usage ('in many Asian and south American country'), and tense consistency. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic errors like pluralization and verb forms, and try to vary your sentence structures with more complex clauses.
