Student answer (Band 6.5)
Shopping is a crucial part of everybody's life. It is believed that purchasing branded clothes is a good decision instead of grabbing cheaper clothes. I totally agree with this statement. This essay will intend to analyse the views for agreement along with relevant examples.
To commence with this first opinion, including costly clothes in your shopping can benefit people in many ways. As it is obvious that branded clothes are top- notch, so spending money on that clothes is worth it. However, cheaper clothes do not have good quality moreover it can be seen that after a one wash some cheaper clothes gets lint as well as these got ribbed sometimes. As a result, people have to buy new clothes again which is further a wastage of money. For instance, a survey conducted by Adidas warehouse in Canada revealed that in a last few years demand for branded clothes are increasing rapidly. Hence, spending some of the money on higher quality clothes is much better.
Furthermore, nowadays public is more in fashion as most of the individuals wants to look luxurious. It is a trend to be up on the latest trends. People wants to flaunt their clothes in front of their friends or public to grab more attention. Most of the public follow social media stars to choose their clothes to remain on trend. They got self satisfaction by doing so. For example, there are number of fashion shows held in London where people can show and flaunt their expensive outfits. Therefore, wearing luxurious outfits is almost a trend in today's era.
In conclusion, people not only prefer to but high rate clothes for their best and long lasting quality but also they wear these for their self satisfaction and feel confident in front of everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The essay addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The arguments regarding quality and social status are relevant and logically developed. However, the development is somewhat superficial; for instance, the example of the Adidas survey is not fully integrated or explained in a way that directly supports the argument about 'expensive' versus 'cheap' clothing. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced reasoning, perhaps by discussing the environmental impact of 'fast fashion' or the long-term economic benefits of investing in durable goods, rather than focusing primarily on social status and brand names.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'As it is obvious that branded clothes are top-notch, so spending money on that clothes is worth it.' Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking words would enhance the overall cohesion of the piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'luxurious', 'flaunt', and 'long-lasting'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'grabbing cheaper clothes', 'got ribbed', and 'but high rate clothes'. These errors occasionally distract the reader. To improve, focus on learning collocations (e.g., 'high-quality garments' instead of 'high rate clothes') and using more precise academic vocabulary to express your ideas, which will help you move into the higher band categories.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('most of the individuals wants', 'some cheaper clothes gets') and article usage ('in a last few years'). Additionally, there are issues with pluralization and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. Increasing your control over basic grammatical rules and proofreading for these common slips will significantly improve your score.
