Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by presenting a clear position in favor of buying expensive clothes. The ideas are relevant, such as the durability of high-quality items and the psychological benefits of wearing them. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you provide personal examples, such as your experience with Gucci clothing, the arguments could be extended further with more general analysis. The counter-argument regarding budget constraints is also relevant, but the explanation remains a bit simplistic. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully explored with more depth and logical reasoning rather than relying primarily on personal anecdotes.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to signal shifts in your argument. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed. For example, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph could be smoother. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as 'it certain period of time'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas will enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but there are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'benificial', 'garnaments', 'qulaity', and 'cheapeast'. These errors occasionally distract the reader but do not prevent understanding. You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'premium', 'durability', and 'personality', which is positive. However, the range is somewhat limited, and you rely on repetitive phrasing. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of common words and expanding your range of collocations related to consumer habits and personal finance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Investing in premium clothes give us'), article usage (e.g., 'buying a many cheaper clothes'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'If some going for any kind of event'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing after commas and periods. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction limit the score. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage would significantly improve your accuracy.
