Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position in favor of buying expensive clothes. The ideas are relevant, focusing on durability, social status, and personal confidence. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the claim that expensive clothes provide 'loose fitting' is a generalization that lacks logical support. While the position is clear throughout, the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly extended with more nuanced reasoning to reach a higher band. The response covers all parts of the task, but the depth of analysis is limited.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Furthermore', and 'In summary' are used to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. Additionally, there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, such as the transition between the mention of social media and the durability of clothes. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved to create a smoother progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their opinion clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'premium clothes', 'branded', and 'social status'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'most of the rich people of the county by branded clothes' (should be 'buy') and 'one of the most priority thing' (should be 'priorities'). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, and the repetition of basic terms like 'clothes' and 'expensive' suggests a need for more variety.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('most of the rich people... by branded clothes'), incorrect verb forms ('will be discuss'), and punctuation errors (missing capital letters at the start of sentences). These errors are noticeable but do not significantly impede communication. To improve, the writer should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and attempting a wider variety of complex sentence structures with greater precision.
