Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is recommended to buy some of the branded apparels than bunch of low quality and low valued clothes. I completely agree with the statement, as spending money on good clothing is crucial decision.

Firstly, some tops and bottoms which you wear in everyday routine has significance role in your personality. No matter what age group you fall under? or what is your profession? when you wear the perfectly stitched dress which comes under high-end products, it showcases your value to the people. For example, any business person when wears the suit and enters the office, everyone in there will talk about the dress and quality. That explains importance of brand oriented clothing and everyone will notice.

Secondly, low quality product has not proper fitting and colours used in those linen are very odd and diluted. In a glance, one can judge you by the way you look. For instance, consider the same example, the business man who is wealthy and healthy but is wearing loose shirt and cheap pants. All the workers in the office will definitely think that he is not tidy or disciplined. Some may argue that budget is important when buying a clothes and they do not afford to buy such branded clothes. Then to those, try to limit your spending in terms of quantity as expensive clothes lasts more than cheaper ones.

To conclude, if you want to look decent and grow in life then such tiny details matter a lot. In your wardrobe, you have limited dresses but all comfortable to wear and expensive are better compare to those having hundreds of clothes but all cheap.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position in favor of buying fewer, higher-quality clothes. The ideas are relevant, focusing on the impact of clothing on professional perception and the long-term value of durable goods. However, the development is somewhat limited; the argument relies heavily on a single example of a businessman, which is repeated in both body paragraphs. To reach a higher band, you should expand your reasoning with more diverse examples or deeper analysis of the economic and environmental benefits of 'slow fashion' to provide a more comprehensive discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'To conclude' are used to signal the structure. However, the flow within paragraphs is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. For instance, the transition 'Then to those, try to limit...' is somewhat abrupt and informal. Referencing is generally clear, but the connection between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall progression of ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and sophistication. You use some basic collocations like 'low quality' and 'expensive clothes', but there are instances of unnatural word choices, such as 'branded apparels' (apparel is usually uncountable) and 'diluted' to describe colors (faded would be more accurate). There is also a tendency to use repetitive phrasing. To improve, focus on learning more precise collocations related to fashion and consumer habits, and ensure you are using countable and uncountable nouns correctly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('a bunch', 'the business man'), subject-verb agreement ('product has not', 'clothes lasts'), and punctuation (the unnecessary question mark in the first paragraph). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'spending money on good clothing is crucial decision'. These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and article usage.
