Student answer (Band 6.5)
In this contemporary era, Different companies make different price range of clothes. Some people believe that it is best idea to buy the expensive clothes rather than large number of cheap outfits. I agree with this statement to large extent.
To begin with, expensive outfits usually made of excellent quality of fiber, it last longer without any wear and tears. With the help of good fiber, clothes help people to survive in different weather conditions. For instance, in Canada, every year 40 people died due to Frostbite, these fatalities are directly linked to unprotected outfits such as low quality jackets and clothes with tears holes. Moreover, expensive clothes always maintain good shape and shine, which enhance the appearance of any individual. Not only, it makes people more superior but also it helps to boat the confidence level.
Furthermore, cheap clothes always have issues with shape, coloure, and fiber. Due to this, it may not last longer and more production needs, which directly impact the environmental causes. In contrast, expensive outfits have more stability, which increase the timeframe of uses.
However, it also depends the financial background of person, some people not able to afford expensive outfits. Similarly, A high price not always guarantee excellent quality. Nevertheless, when consumer afford the outfit and carefully consider the quality of product, purchasing fewer clothing is a wiser choice.
To sum up, I agree with buying fewer expensive, high-quality clothing is preferable to the buying large number of cheaper clothes, because they tend to last longer, offer better long-term value and can help to reduce unnecessary waste.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding quality, durability, and environmental impact are relevant and well-supported. However, the example regarding frostbite in Canada is somewhat extreme and not entirely relevant to the general concept of 'expensive clothes' versus 'cheap clothes,' which limits the depth of the argument. While the ideas are extended, the development could be more nuanced to reach a higher band. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points and reinforces the writer's stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'Moreover,' 'Furthermore,' and 'In contrast' are used to guide the reader through the arguments. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and some transitions feel repetitive. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Referencing is generally clear, though some sentence structures are slightly disjointed, which prevents the essay from achieving a higher score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'contemporary era' and 'fatalities,' though some collocations are slightly unnatural, such as 'boat the confidence level' (likely meaning 'boost'). Spelling errors like 'coloure' and minor grammatical slips in word choice occur. To improve, the student should focus on more precise collocations and ensure that vocabulary is used in the correct context to enhance the sophistication of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'expensive outfits usually made of' (missing auxiliary verb), 'some people not able to afford' (missing verb), and 'it also depends the financial background' (missing preposition). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some comma splices and run-on sentences. While the meaning is always clear, the frequency of these errors limits the score. Increasing the variety of error-free complex structures would improve the grade.
