Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, society is becoming purchase addicted day by day due to which people spend big percentage of their earnings on purchasing quantity not quality. I believe, spending on big amount on few cloths is more practical than spending on several cheap cloths.

To start with, in this mordern society, people have a limited time to attend number of functions since everyone is working to fulfill thier daily needs. As a result, people use limited number of cloths in their daily routine at work place, which should be the best one and espensive also rather then alots of cheap cloths from which half will be end up in the recycling bins only. In addition, limited number of cloths ensure money and time savings. To explain, people usually spend unexpected time on choosing cloths from their loaded wall drawers. If the cloths are espensive and limited, it is easy to choose that what to wear and when. Additionally, spending on limited cloths would be less as compare to cheap but alots of cloths.

Expensive cloths have their own grace and look also have limited designs and colors. Due to these features, people are unable to understand even if a person is wearing the same cloth everyday. For example, in some countries, office wear is only black and white which make it easy for the people if they are repeating the same suit Only if the suit is expensive and of good material.

In conclusion, cloths for job place, schools, college or places where people go everyday, can be limited and expensive . But on special ceremonies and celebartions can be a place for what people can but variety of cloths.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of buying fewer, more expensive clothes. The ideas are relevant, focusing on convenience, time-saving, and the professional appearance of high-quality items. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'recycling bins' is a bit vague, and the example about office wear being 'black and white' is a generalization that does not fully support the argument about quality versus quantity. To reach a higher band, you should provide more nuanced explanations for your claims and ensure your examples are more universally applicable or better integrated into your central argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To start with', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion' to signal the progression of your ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed. For example, the transition between the idea of 'loaded wall drawers' and 'spending on limited cloths' could be smoother. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, which occasionally forces the reader to re-read to grasp the intended meaning. Improving the variety of your linking words would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'recycling bins', 'professional', and 'ceremonies'. However, there are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'mordern', 'thier', 'espensive', 'alots', 'celebartions') and some awkward collocations (e.g., 'purchase addicted', 'loaded wall drawers'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader. To improve, focus on mastering the spelling of common academic words and pay closer attention to how words naturally pair together in English. Expanding your range of synonyms would also help you avoid repeating words like 'clothes' and 'expensive'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the' vs 'a'), pluralization ('cloths' instead of 'clothes'), and subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'half will be end up'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be distracting. You attempt complex structures, but they often contain errors that affect clarity. To improve, focus on the basics of noun-verb agreement and the correct usage of articles. Proofreading your work for these common slips will significantly improve your score.
