Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a position, but the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you provide some reasons for preferring expensive clothes, such as quality and durability, the arguments are often repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the point about 'warranty' is mentioned multiple times without clear explanation of how it applies to clothing. The discussion on cheaper clothes is also somewhat superficial, focusing primarily on affordability rather than exploring the trade-offs between cost and value. To improve, ensure each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-supported point rather than restating the same ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'White the other say' (likely meant 'While') and 'Therefore, some highest price clothes' do not effectively link ideas. The transition between the discussion of expensive and cheaper clothes is abrupt. Additionally, some sentences are disjointed, making the progression of ideas feel repetitive. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'expensive', 'cheaper', 'clothes', and 'good'. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'purchased fashionable clothes' (should be 'purchase'), 'looking smart' (should be 'looking smart' or 'appearing professional'), and 'others individuals attractive' (which is grammatically and lexically unclear). To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary, including synonyms and more precise collocations related to consumer habits and fashion, while ensuring they are used in the correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the essay that occasionally impede communication. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Clothes plays', 'poor people doesn't purchased'), incorrect verb forms ('individuals like to purchased'), and missing articles. The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. When complex structures are attempted, they often contain errors, such as 'If Individuals are more money they buy expensive clothes'. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of verb tenses, and then gradually introduce more complex sentence structures.
