Student answer (Band 6.0)

Buying clothes is a great feeling to everyone but some people believe to buy expensive clothes and in contrast, some believe to buy cheaper clothes. Both reasons are having their own consequences.

In my opinion, buying expensive clothes gives an individual a comfort and confidence which enhance personality of an individual. Instead of buying expensive clothes, if we spend money on buying cheap clothes it would not run for long lasting as cheap quality fabrics are genrally not skin friendly.

It can cause skin rashes and you have to buy again and again new clothes to make fit and suitable for your body, which is not budget friendly for anyone.

Buying expensive clothes once a time keeps you away buying again and again as it has good quality of fitting, skin friendly and no need to make extra space in your wardrobe as expensive buyer cry once but cheap buyer cry again and again. For example, an individual who has five pairs of expensive clothes, he can use all pairs without any doubt. In contrast, another who has ten pairs of clothes but he needs more consiousness about choosing clothes as about of comfort and for good looking.

In addition, I believe in good quality over a cheap one. Buying once is saving our time too and it affect on environment to as we have to commute for shopping mall. Buying good clothes once save your time, mentally pressure. It can save our environment by polluting. Before spending money on clothes we should think about conseqe

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of buying fewer, higher-quality clothes. The main ideas—durability, comfort, and environmental impact—are relevant. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding environmental impact is introduced in the final paragraph but remains underdeveloped and ends abruptly with an incomplete sentence ('conseqe'). While the position is consistent, the supporting arguments lack depth and specific, well-explained examples, which limits the overall impact of the response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'In contrast' and 'In addition' are used, but the flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed. For example, the transition between the discussion of skin rashes and the conclusion about budget-friendliness is abrupt. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the final sentence is incomplete, which disrupts the coherence of the concluding paragraph.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and non-standard collocations, such as 'run for long lasting' instead of 'last a long time' and 'mentally pressure' instead of 'mental pressure'. The repetition of phrases like 'buying again and again' also limits the lexical variety. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated vocabulary and the presence of word-choice errors prevent a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('Both reasons are having'), missing articles ('an individual a comfort'), and incorrect preposition usage ('affect on environment'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, and the final sentence is incomplete, which is a significant error. While the writer attempts complex structures, the control over them is inconsistent, leading to frequent minor errors.
