Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response struggles to address the prompt clearly. While the student attempts to discuss the topic of expensive versus cheap clothing, the ideas are often disjointed and lack logical development. The position is inconsistent, as the writer states they are 'agreed' but then mentions they are 'not disagreed' with the alternative. The arguments provided, such as the mention of 'beggar' or 'clean clothes,' do not effectively support a coherent stance on the quality or value of clothing. Consequently, the response fails to develop a clear, sustained argument, which is a requirement for higher bands.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks a logical flow. While there are paragraph breaks, the internal structure of the paragraphs is confusing. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the awkward transition 'When, I am agreed to like a better buy.' The progression of ideas is difficult to follow because the sentences do not link together to form a cohesive argument. The conclusion is also repetitive and does not effectively summarize the main points, as the ideas themselves were not clearly established in the body paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very limited and often used incorrectly, which frequently impedes communication. Phrases like 'vibes goods' and 'dashing, more popular getting ideas' are non-standard and unclear. There is a lack of precision in word choice, and the student relies on basic, repetitive language. The attempt to use more complex vocabulary results in word-choice errors that make the intended meaning difficult to discern. To improve, the student needs to focus on learning common collocations and using words in their correct grammatical context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that distort meaning. There are significant issues with sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, and word order (e.g., 'I am starting my day with new creativity and ideas, plan for cloths'). Many sentences are fragments or run-on sentences that lack proper punctuation. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, error-prone sentences. The high frequency of errors makes it difficult for the reader to understand the intended message, which is characteristic of the lower band levels.
