Student answer (Band 5.0)

Better to buy expensive clothes rather than lots of cheper clothes. I strongly agree to this statment. More comfortable and wear to better choice is expensive clothes. Using simple ante more attractive for the dress. Most of people have choose to this type clothes. Many brands are available for this time and more shopes are seen to our sourounding.

Now our life style is very difficult. Most of people select brand new items for using life style. More over using clothes is main choice. Use the cheepest rate clothes is no quality and no need more days. Using one ore two months that item is damaged. Waste for money select chepper quality clothes. All of time use to better choice. More time using and comfortable to expense more.

New generation and old generation this time use more beautiful clothes. They are no issue to money best option is select for his or her choice. Different collections for many shopes. Not one time use many months or years using most expensive clothes.

Best example for me , expensive and brand item clothes are use me. White line company shirt use in two year. More price for that item. Now this time i use to that shirt. More comfortable and super design seen this brand. Money is not a problem , but i want best choice in shope or another areas.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of buying expensive clothes. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The arguments regarding quality and longevity are mentioned but not fully explored or supported with sophisticated reasoning. Furthermore, the response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the depth of the response. The ideas are somewhat underdeveloped, and the conclusion is brief and lacks a summary of the main points. To improve, you should expand on your arguments with more detailed explanations and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for a more comprehensive discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression between ideas is often disjointed. While there are some attempts at linking ideas, the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical or misused (e.g., 'More over', 'All of time'). The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of the argument. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks a clear topic sentence and supporting evidence. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that contributes to the overall argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to express complex ideas. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'using life style' instead of 'lifestyle choices' and 'cheper' instead of 'cheaper'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate precision or flexibility. Many phrases are awkward, such as 'White line company shirt use in two year'. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary, focusing on collocations and more sophisticated terms related to consumer habits and quality, while also paying closer attention to correct spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include incorrect verb tenses ('expensive and brand item clothes are use me'), missing articles, and subject-verb agreement errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent, which occasionally hinders readability. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the errors are frequent enough to cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb forms and sentence variety, before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for basic errors like subject-verb agreement is essential.
