Student answer (Band 6.5)
There is an ongoing debate regarding clothes, as many people prefer to purchase expensive but a less number clothes, instead of buying a lot of cheap clothes. Proponents believe that the high prices of clothes ensure their good quality and durability while low priced garments are compromised. This essay will discuss both views before explaining why I partially agree with statement.
On the one hand, many people who purchase expensive dresses prefer quality over money. Clothes that are manufactured with high quality of fabric like wool, linen or silk are more durable and can be used for a longer period of time. These Apparrels made up of fabrics that are soft, luxurious and comfortable than ordinary cotton. This compels a lot of individuals to spend their money on attires that are worth the price even if this means having only a limited number of them. Moroever, clothes must be selected with great care and thought as they define personality, class and choice of an individual.
On the other hand, in this era which is marked by inflation, the majority of individuals cannot afford to purchase high quality dresses. They prefer cheap clothes which can fulfill their temporary needs and can be replaced later on when torn or damaged. For example, it is easy to give away a cheap cloth after sometime than an expensive one. This also allows people to have a variety of dresses for different occasions and satisfy their fashion needs. While expensive dresses can only be afforded by a certain class if bought in bulk. Moreover, you cannot wear expensive clothes while working at home or sleeping, loose and worn-out shirts and pyjamas are comfortable for such purposes.
In conclusion, I partially agree with this idea as clothes with good quality are preferrable for special occasions while cheaper clothes can used for daily use. In this way you can have a few expensive dreses reserved for events and a lot of cheap dreses for common usage.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear position throughout. You successfully discuss both sides of the argument before concluding with a balanced view. The ideas are relevant and supported by examples, such as the mention of fabric types like 'wool, linen or silk' and the practical distinction between special occasion wear and daily loungewear. To reach a higher band, ensure that your position is more consistently integrated into the body paragraphs rather than just stating it in the introduction and conclusion. The development of ideas is generally good, though some points, such as the impact of inflation, could be linked more explicitly to the choice of clothing quality.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'Moreover' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow. For instance, the phrase 'compromised' in the introduction lacks a clear object, and the transition between the inflation argument and the example of 'giving away a cheap cloth' could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the overall progression of ideas is easy to follow throughout the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'durable,' 'luxurious,' and 'inflation.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'a less number clothes' (should be 'fewer clothes'), 'Apparrels' (spelling error: 'Apparel'), and 'cheap cloth' (should be 'cheap clothing' or 'inexpensive garments'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and collocations. Expanding your vocabulary to include more sophisticated synonyms and idiomatic expressions would help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'can used for daily use' (missing 'be'), 'dreses' (spelling), and 'preferrable' (spelling). Additionally, the sentence 'These Apparrels made up of fabrics...' is missing a verb. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear, and the punctuation is generally functional. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that passive constructions are formed correctly. Increasing the variety of complex structures while reducing minor slips will help you achieve a higher band score.
