Student answer (Band 6.5)
It has always been a matter of debate whether we should buy expensive clothes or a cheap ones. Many individuals say it is better to invest in a few branded clothes rather than collecting variety of budget-friendly clothes. I certainly disagree with this view. Even though, the branded clothes are visually more appealing but it does not mean that we should wear same clothes frequently.
To commence with, having a few branded clothes may create a hygiene issues and are more prone to wear and tear, due to repeated use and wash. If any individual have a limited expensive clothes, they might wear them more frequently and end up buying more clothes. As repeatedly wearing same garments may affect its durability. Moreover, if any individual does not wash clothes after every use, they may more vulnerable to the skin infections such as itching and rashes. Therefore, it is better to buy more clothes at a cheaper price rather than having a few branded articles . For instance, the quality of the garments depend upon its fabric not on its price and brand.
Furthermore, a middle class individuals have a limited budget for their clothes and they have to go to work every day. Instead of buying a few expensive clothes, they prefer to buy a variety of clothes from the local market at a cheap price to change it every day as per their office requirements. If taken care properly, local clothes may not solely stand out but also durable. If any indivdual comes under the peer pressure and invest a large chunk of their money into the expensive clothes just to get a few compliments, they may struggle financially.
To sum up, the branded clothes may help you to get compliments from friends and family but having only a few of them leads to hygiene issue and more wear and tear of clothes. I believe it is always better to buy a variety of clothes at a cheaper price. By taking care of them, we may have more options to wear every day and they are also economical.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. You have provided relevant arguments regarding hygiene, durability, and financial constraints to support your disagreement with the statement. The ideas are extended and supported with logical reasoning, such as the link between frequent washing and garment wear. To reach a higher band, ensure that your examples are more specific; for instance, instead of a general mention of 'local market', you could discuss the trade-off between fast fashion and sustainable consumption more deeply. Overall, the response is well-developed and fully addresses all parts of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Furthermore', and 'To sum up' to guide the reader through your arguments. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as the use of 'it' in 'the quality of the garments depend upon its fabric', where the pronoun reference is slightly ambiguous. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the hygiene argument to the financial argument, which helps the reader follow your logic easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'budget-friendly', 'durability', and 'economical'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'create a hygiene issues' (should be 'create hygiene issues') and 'a middle class individuals' (should be 'middle-class individuals'). While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, some phrasing remains slightly repetitive. To improve, focus on more precise collocations and ensure that pluralization and articles are used correctly with your chosen vocabulary to enhance the sophistication of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the quality of the garments depend' should be 'depends') and article usage (e.g., 'a cheap ones'). Additionally, there are errors with pluralization, such as 'a middle class individuals'. These errors do not impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic agreement errors and ensure that your complex sentences are constructed with greater grammatical precision.
