Student answer (Band 6.0)

Spending huge amount of money on expensive clothes has become extremely common in many countries. It is believed that instead of purchasing number of cheaper outfits, buying couple of expensive clothes is a good decision. I think, purchasing less expensive clothes is more appreciated decision.

purchasing budget friendly clothes can be conveniently available. When People shop groceries from Walmart, Costco, they can buy new outfits from the same location even at minimal prices. Which results in save time and efforts. Although branded outfits can not be available at this ease at any cost.

Additionally, it provides more options to stay always classy. Buying lots of cheaper clothes can indeed help us to style our outfits on daily basis, as we do not need to repeat clothes even in a week. Whereas, if we purchase branded clothes such as Gucci, Lululemon, and Adidas we cannot buy lots of clothing option as in a low budget.

Another advantage of purchasing clothes which are budget friendly is financial stability. These days the cost of living is already excessively high, so spending more to buy expensive outfits is not a rewarded decision. If we purchase costly clothes we may need to lend money from bank or may be from friends or relatives which is a nuisance.

In conclusion, although according to few people buying expensive outfits shows ours financial status in public, yet cheaper clothes has far more benefits including financial balance, convenience, and even the classy style that can be obtained even wearing cheap clothes.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed the prompt and maintained a clear position throughout the essay. You provided relevant reasons for your stance, such as convenience and financial stability. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about 'financial stability' is a strong argument, but it could be further extended by discussing the long-term value of quality versus quantity. While you have covered all parts of the task, the supporting arguments are occasionally brief, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, try to elaborate more on your examples to provide a more comprehensive discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Additionally' and 'In conclusion', to link your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the connection between ideas is slightly abrupt, such as the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph. Furthermore, some referencing is unclear, such as the phrase 'Which results in save time' at the start of a sentence, which lacks a proper subject. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring each sentence flows naturally into the next will enhance your score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to express your ideas, using terms like 'financial stability', 'cost of living', and 'budget friendly'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'appreciated decision', 'at this ease', and 'rewarded decision'. These errors occasionally make the text sound unnatural. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using collocations more accurately and incorporating a wider range of less common lexical items. Avoid repeating basic words and try to use more precise synonyms to convey your meaning more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the essay. Common issues include missing articles ('at minimal prices'), incorrect verb forms ('results in save time'), and subject-verb agreement errors ('cheaper clothes has'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralization and article usage before attempting more complex structures.
