Student answer (Band 6.0)
Whether investing in small wardrobe of high quality garments or purchasing a lot of inexpensive clothing has become a significant debate in today's world. I strongly agree on buying few well made clothes is better than having lot of cheaper clothes because it is environmental stability and durability. This essay will discuss all the reasons that supports the agreement in detail.
First and foremost, high quality garments are built to last longer, offering better durability and lower long term costs. Inexpensive clothes are of mass produced using synthetic fibres and poor stitching quality, causes items to fade the colour, or lose the original shape, even sometimes wore off after few washes. However, fabrics made of premium materials such as wool, silk, cotton and leather. Though these costs more to produce a single piece of apparel, but it endures over a decade and does not fade away even used numerous times without degrading. overall the cost per wear can be considerably reduced over time than frequent purchase of poor quality apparels.
Furthermore, prioritizing quality over quality is economically sustainable and avoids the impact on the environmental fast fashion. For instance, replacing clothes quite often can increase the landfill waste and rapidly raises the pollution level in the oceans where factories releases its waste and synthetic dyes to create mass production of the clothes and suffice the needs of the people. Therefore, purchasing fewer well made clothes, makes consumers reject the overconsumption.
In the conclusion, buying few premium quality clothes rather than accumulating an excess cheaper garments due to its super durability and environmental safety.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt clearly, maintaining a consistent position throughout. The arguments regarding durability, cost-effectiveness, and environmental impact are relevant and well-supported. However, the development is slightly uneven; the second paragraph introduces a list of materials (wool, silk, etc.) but lacks a complete sentence structure to connect them to the argument. While the ideas are clear, they could be further extended with more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. The conclusion is also somewhat abrupt and lacks a full sentence structure, which slightly impacts the overall development of the position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'However', and 'Furthermore' are used to guide the reader through the arguments. However, there are instances where the flow is interrupted by grammatical errors, such as the sentence fragment starting with 'However, fabrics made of premium materials...' which lacks a main verb. Additionally, the conclusion is a sentence fragment rather than a complete, cohesive summary. While the progression of ideas is logical, the mechanical errors in sentence structure occasionally hinder the smooth flow of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at more sophisticated terminology like 'environmental stability', 'mass produced', and 'overconsumption'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'environmental stability' (which is not the standard term for sustainability) and 'wore off' (where 'worn out' would be correct). The phrase 'prioritizing quality over quality' is a clear error that detracts from the precision of the argument. While the range is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, the inaccuracies in collocation prevent a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several recurring grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('reasons that supports') and missing articles. The most significant issue is the presence of sentence fragments, particularly in the second paragraph ('However, fabrics made of premium materials...') and the conclusion, which lacks a main verb. While the meaning remains clear, these frequent errors in basic sentence construction and punctuation limit the score. To improve, focus on ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and a finite verb.
