Student answer (Band 5.5)

undoubtedly, fashion become more and more in todays generation. however, lots of people wants to buy expensive clothes rather than cheaper. so, i partially agree with this statement and shed some lights on my points.

first of all, expensive clothes are good in quality which everyone wants to wear it because cheaper clothes are made with low quality which clothes are easily damaged so people hates it and they need to buy another one in short period of time because when you go to buy clothes its takes to much time, nowadays varieties in clothes are so many due to this people are confusing easily which they can buy so that it why they want expensive clothes. For example, many brands like Gucci , LV, Burberry and many more, brands policy is focus on quality so that why they are renowned in all over the worlds which every body glad to wear their clothes.

On the other hand, expensive clothes are not affordable for everyone, because they are selling in high amount so that why so many individuals goes with cheaper clothes, its very reasonable for everyone. Another, we cannot wear expensive clothes in daily basis, for instance, only persons who attends meeting on daily routine , they are only wear suits in order to attractive. rather than all of other wear normal and cheaper clothes. for example, a survey conducted by Britain, around 80 percent people earns average income, so they all are not familiar with expensive clothes.

to sum up, we all of them wants expensive clothes because of their quality but opposite side expensive clothes are not afford by everyone and we cannot wear it on daily routine.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by presenting a partially agreed position. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention the quality of expensive clothes and the affordability of cheaper ones, the arguments lack depth and specific, well-explained examples. For instance, the reference to a 'survey conducted by Britain' is vague and lacks sufficient detail to support your point effectively. To improve, ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea that directly supports your thesis, providing more logical reasoning rather than just listing general observations. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'so that why' and 'another,' which are used incorrectly to link ideas. The progression of ideas within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed, making it difficult to follow the logical flow. For example, the transition between discussing quality and the time taken to shop is abrupt. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' 'in contrast') and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'good,' 'bad,' 'clothes,' and 'cheaper.' There are also several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'shed some lights on my points' (should be 'shed some light') and 'selling in high amount' (should be 'expensive' or 'high-priced'). While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and the frequent errors in word formation prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to fashion, consumer habits, and economic factors to demonstrate a broader range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('fashion become,' 'people wants'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or lack proper punctuation, such as 'cheaper clothes are made with low quality which clothes are easily damaged.' The range of structures is limited, with a heavy reliance on simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement. Additionally, try to incorporate more complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or conditional sentences, while ensuring they are grammatically accurate.
