Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that buying cheaper clothes are not worth it instead it is better to have some branded clothes. This essay shows disagreement toward this trend.
To commence with, cheaper clothes are cost saving which is one of the major reasons. To elaborate, more affordable clothes should be easily available and people belongs to low to medium income can buy clothes for them. For example, mostly people prefer to have clothes which are looking like expensive and you should easily wash them in any detergent and machine it should be gone anywhere. People also have many options to wear distinct clothes which are affordable they do not worry about options. You also get good stuff quality in lower prices as compared to expensive ones. Mostly teenagers buy cheaper clothes so that they have as many options to change everyday with new design.
Moreover, sometimes expensive clothes just shows the brand name but the quality of clothes are similar to that of cheaper one. Sometimes branded clothes get faded in laundry because they need expensive laundry detergent and separate wash which costs a lot while buying them. Addition to this in expensive clothes you do not find much option as in cheaper clothes sometimes you do not get your match as well as color also which is easily available in low priced ones. Sometimes the deals you got on expensive one are not exchange or non- refundable which cause loss of money and no use of clothes.
In conclusion it is better to have cheaper clothes instead of expensive due to distinctive options as well as quality which is not come in expensive ones.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against the idea of buying expensive clothes. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide reasons such as cost-effectiveness and variety, the arguments are occasionally repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the claim that expensive clothes are 'not exchange or non-refundable' is a specific point, but it is not fully explained or supported with a clear example. To improve, ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea that directly supports your thesis, rather than listing multiple points that are not fully explored. The conclusion is also quite brief and could better summarize the main arguments presented in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure of your argument. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs can be disjointed. For example, the transition between the idea of 'cost saving' and 'teenagers' in the first body paragraph is abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as the phrase 'it should be gone anywhere' in the first paragraph, which makes the meaning difficult to follow. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words will help the essay flow more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'good stuff quality' and 'cheaper clothes' repeatedly. There are also instances of awkward word choices, such as 'people belongs to low to medium income' (should be 'people belonging to low-to-middle income groups') and 'no use of clothes' (should be 'a waste of money'). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to consumer habits, such as 'budget-conscious', 'durability', 'fast fashion', or 'cost-effective', and ensure that your collocations are natural and accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('people belongs', 'clothes just shows'), article usage ('the quality of clothes are'), and awkward phrasing ('which is not come in expensive ones'). While the meaning is generally understandable, these errors are persistent throughout the text. To reach a higher band, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly subject-verb agreement and the correct use of relative clauses. Proofreading for these specific types of errors before finishing your writing will significantly improve the accuracy of your work.
