Student answer (Band 6.0)

Shopping is an entertaining and intresting part of life. Many famiies are inclined to shopping and buying essentials for themselves and their families.Individuals get gifts according to.their budget.Few of them are intrested in purchasing expensive clothes however other ones are more likely to get cheaper clothes

When buying clothes the branded or the quality clothes are usually expensive ones.Despite of that the cheaper ones are of poor quality and are abundant in quantity too.

On one hand buying the expensive clothing has more authentic recommendable fabric quality and fine finish of clothes. It is quite visible the fabric is more soft and fresh in colors. The breathable light fabric is likeable and widely acceptable on international level too.i agree with the believe that you buy less articles which are expensive but of better quality which is durable and widely acceptable. For example i purchased a leather jacket 2 years back which was of high value.i was skeptical on getting it at first.but eventually i got it and i am glad it was worthy every penny i spend on it. The jacket was durable and loved by everyone! I used to wear oftenly in my university.

Despite of that some people who are not affluent and have to think about their monthly budget before purchasing essentials for them go for clothes which are cheap but are in more quantity. They dont last for long time and tear apart more frequently upon few washes. For example when cheap clothes are used by kids they get worn out easily. To summarize the whole concept you end up buying again and the cycle continues.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of buying fewer, higher-quality items. The ideas are relevant and supported by a personal example of a leather jacket. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The introduction is a bit unfocused, discussing shopping habits in general rather than immediately addressing the prompt. While the arguments regarding durability and cost-effectiveness are clear, they could be expanded with more sophisticated reasoning to reach a higher band. The conclusion is brief but summarizes the main point effectively. To improve, ensure that every sentence directly contributes to supporting your stance on the specific trade-off between quality and quantity.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. There is a logical progression from the benefits of quality items to the drawbacks of cheap, disposable clothing. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For instance, 'Despite of that' is used incorrectly as a transition, and the connection between sentences is sometimes abrupt. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between ideas could be smoother with a more varied range of linking words. Paragraphing is present, but the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be more seamless.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their opinion clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'affluent' and 'authentic', which is positive. However, there are several spelling errors ('intresting', 'famiies') and some awkward collocations ('authentic recommendable fabric quality'). The range is sufficient to communicate the main points, but the lack of precision and the presence of spelling mistakes limit the score. To improve, focus on using collocations more naturally and proofreading for basic spelling errors to ensure a more professional tone.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with punctuation, article usage, and verb forms (e.g., 'I used to wear oftenly', 'worthy every penny i spend'). Sentence boundaries are sometimes unclear due to missing or misplaced periods. While the writer attempts complex structures, these often contain errors that slightly impede the flow of reading. To reach a higher band, focus on consistent subject-verb agreement, correct use of articles, and ensuring that complex sentences are punctuated accurately.
