Student answer (Band 6.0)
The textile industry in recent years has shown significant growth. Many people in our society have welcomed a new approach of buying cheaper clothes rather than expensive ones which has a good quality. It promotes use and throw culture. Happiness is closely linked with this development. This new trend allows people to follow latest trends and fashions. I personally disagree with given statement. This essay will discuss this development.
To begin, spending minimum money on outfit allow people to save money. In recent years, it has been seen that fashion is continuously changing and things which is in trend would be outdated next month. This changing nature push people to stop spending huge amount on clothes. Furthermore, expenses are constantly increasing and in such situations, people do not have enough money to buy quality products. Textile industry also support this view by introducing new design.
Conversely, quality products can be used for several time. Some brands such as Levi's and Calvin Klein used to have really good quality and in my personal experience, it can be wear for years and years. However, wearing same design everyday may feel boring and overwhelming to some people. People always like to have some changes in life. Additionally, many individuals like to show offs by having different outfits and using same outfits everyday do not match with their demand. They like to present themselves differently from another groups. All of these convincing arguments push new generation to choose cheaper option.
To sum up, interests and choices of people are constantly changing. It means things that they like today would not be the same next year. This approach is highly benefited to manufacturers as society is supporting use and throw culture.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against the statement. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention financial savings and the desire for variety, the arguments lack depth and specific examples are limited to brand names. The essay tends to over-generalize about the 'new generation' and 'use and throw culture' without fully exploring the implications of the prompt regarding quality versus quantity. To reach a higher band, ensure that each main idea is supported by a more detailed explanation or a more concrete real-world example that directly links back to the core debate of quality versus cost.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin', 'Furthermore', 'Conversely', and 'To sum up' to signal transitions. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs can be slightly disjointed. For instance, the transition between the discussion of quality brands and the desire for variety is abrupt. Improving the use of referencing and substitution would help create a smoother, more cohesive text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'textile industry', 'outdated', and 'manufacturers'. However, there are instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'spending minimum money', 'used to have really good quality', 'can be wear', and 'show offs'. These errors do not impede communication, but they limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that word forms (e.g., 'wear' vs 'worn') are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('things which is in trend', 'Textile industry also support') and passive voice construction ('can be wear'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor slips throughout. The errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points. To achieve a higher band, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically verb tenses and pluralization, and try to incorporate a wider variety of error-free complex structures.
