Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response presents a clear position supporting cheaper clothes over expensive ones, but it is incomplete. First, the essay suffers from a clear under-length penalty as it contains only 230 words, falling short of the 250-word minimum requirement. Furthermore, the response trails off mid-sentence at the end, leaving the final paragraph severely underdeveloped. While the writer attempts to present arguments regarding fashion trends and financial safety, the ideas lack full development and logical extension due to the abrupt ending. Based on these limitations, the task response aligns with a Band 4.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the organizational structure breaks down significantly towards the end. The final paragraph is incomplete, stopping abruptly in the middle of a sentence, which disrupts the overall progression. Cohesive devices and referencing are at times faulty or mechanical (e.g., 'Commencing with the most prominent reason, these days fashion is changing every day its hard to keep up with it'). Paragraphing is attempted, but the lack of completion in the final section and overall choppy transitions restrict the flow of ideas. Coherence and Cohesion is placed at a Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent word-choice and spelling errors that occasionally impede understanding. Examples include 'inidvidual', 'manfacturing', 'tranqulity', 'brandes', and 'eloborating'. The student attempts some less common terms like 'tranqulity' and 'apparel', but incorrect collocations and noticeable errors in spelling ('faishon', 'decison') constrain the lexical range. There is also confusion between similar concepts, such as arguing for quantity over price while seemingly meaning price over quality. This performance sits firmly at Band 4.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

Grammatical control is weak throughout the text. The response features numerous major sentence structure errors, missing words, and punctuation issues. For instance, 'its an argued that whether purchasing limited clothes...' contains a structural error, and 'whereas the branded make the' is an incomplete thought. There is a very limited range of accurate complex structures, and frequent errors in basic sentence formation cause difficulty for the reader. Given the high frequency of errors and the incomplete sentences, this meets the criteria for Band 4.5.
