Student answer (Band 5.0)
Some people believe it is a good idea for buying expensive clothes, rather than spending on cheaper clothes. I partly agree with this view because everyone cannot afford. While it is a great idea to buy expensive clothes. As a result it leads us to not spend in clothes.
On the one hand, if someone spending great amount of money for clothes. I believe it is a good idea because we dont need to spend it again and again. As a result it also helps in financial way. Another reason is if we want to buy good quality clothes or stay for long time. In this way we need to spend a generous amount of money. I believe if we wash them again and again they dont rot easily.
On the other hand, If someone buy cheaper clothes because they cannot afford that much money. As a result it leads them to buy again. I think cheaper clothes are not always in poor quality sometime we can wear it many times and there color, quality dont fade easily. Another thing if we are washing them in washing machine or manually. We must use good detergant for them. So in this way they dont loose their original quality.
In conclusion, I believe sometime if we buy cheaper clothes, it contains a good quality. But if we buy expensive it is not always true that they have better quality. Because it depends on fabric. Nowadays clothes are in poor quality if they are costly or not. I believe we dont need to debate upon this topic.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument regarding buying expensive versus cheap clothes, presenting a partial agreement stance. However, the development of ideas is limited and at times repetitive. For instance, the argument about durability is mentioned several times without significant extension or deep elaboration. Sentences such as 'everyone cannot afford' lack necessary object completion, which hampers full task fulfillment. While a position is stated in the introduction and maintained to an extent, the arguments remain underdeveloped, corresponding closely to the Band 5 descriptor where ideas are limited and partially supported.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into four paragraphs, attempting a standard essay structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the overall progression is disjointed. Cohesive devices are frequently misused or repetitive, such as the frequent employment of phrases like 'As a result' where causation is logically flawed (e.g., 'everyone cannot afford. While it is a great idea to buy expensive clothes. As a result it leads us to not spend in clothes'). Paragraphing is present, but the internal logical flow within paragraphs is frequently disrupted by abrupt transitions and unclear referencing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on everyday words and simplistic phrasing such as 'good quality', 'cheap clothes', and 'buy again and again'. There are noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as 'spend in clothes' instead of 'spend on clothes' and the use of 'rot' to describe fabric degradation. Spelling errors like 'detergant' and 'loose' instead of 'lose' are also evident. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the basic message, the limited range and frequent errors place this performance firmly within the Band 5 descriptor.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and flawed complex forms. There are frequent grammatical errors that impede communication, such as sentence fragments ('As a result it leads us to not spend in clothes' and 'Another thing if we are washing them') and subject-verb agreement issues ('their color, quality dont fade easily'). Punctuation is also problematic, with numerous run-on sentences and incorrect sentence boundaries (e.g., starting sentences with 'Because' or 'So'). These persistent errors cause significant difficulty for the reader.
