One of the major reasons is quality. I think expensive clothes are generally better in quality and convenience. Consequently, I prefer to buy limited but good quality clothes. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The candidate addresses all parts of the task by taking a clear position ('I completely agree with the given assertion'). Main ideas are presented and supported, such as discussing durability, quality, and social status. For example, the writer notes that 'expensive clothes are generally better in quality and convenience' and explores how brand names contribute to reputation. However, some of these ideas remain slightly underdeveloped or rely on general assertions rather than concrete personal examples, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Overall, the prompt is adequately answered, fulfilling the requirements for Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response exhibits a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as quality in the second paragraph and changing fashion trends in the third. Cohesive devices are employed to connect points, as seen with phrases like 'Consequently', 'Moreover', and 'Hence'. Nevertheless, referencing and cohesion are occasionally mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition 'Moreover, it is good to have limited collection in clothes as trend changed every few months.' Paragraph transitions could be smoother, but the logical progression is clear enough to merit a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'assertion', 'allured', and 'wardrobe malfunctioning'. However, there are noticeable word choice errors, spelling mistakes, and grammatical slips involving lexical forms, such as 'spend to purchase' instead of 'spend money purchasing', 'trend changed' instead of 'trends change', 'establish brands' instead of 'established brands', and 'occassionally'. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they restrict the lexical score. The vocabulary is minimally sufficient and functional, aligning well with the descriptors for Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional ideas like 'Companies who are offering expensive clothes have to build and maintain their reputation...' There are, however, several grammatical errors throughout the text, including tense inconsistencies ('trend changed'), awkward phrasing ('that might can be happened with cheap clothes'), and minor prepositional mistakes. Despite these frequent errors in complex structures, communication is rarely impeded, and simple sentences are generally accurate. This balance of mixed structures and persistent errors is characteristic of Band 6.0.
