Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that people should buy expensive clothing than spending on a large number of low-priced clothes. Personally, I agree that people need to purchase a few good clothes, but people should buy product according quality than the price tag.
Undoubtedly, there is two reason why people have to buy expensive clothes. Firstly, a large number of people believe that expensive brands always provide good quality. To illustrate, the expensive clothing always made with fine fabric, and skilled people often design it according to the latest fashion. Rather than heavy spending on lagre amout of cheaper quality clothing, people need to get top-tier quality products on higer prices. They can use these product for longer term. Secondly, choosing an expensive clothing in small number may reduce the trow away culture because people often value expensive items for longer periods.
On the other hand, I feel that people need to choose
clothes according to quality rather than amount of product.
The major reason of choosing quality is that a number of local brands often provides the same quality of fabrics in low prices as compare well-renowned brands. For example, while there is same cost of raw materials, brands often charge a larger sum of moeny for the same jean which is available at the quite low cost in the local store. Brands often sell clothes expensive because they are not only selling clothing but also selling their brand names.
In conclusion, although, there is no doubt people like to believe that expessive clothes are better option, I feel that they should choose quality over price tags.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The candidate addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, acknowledging both sides before stating a nuanced view. Ideas are generally relevant, such as the relationship between price, quality, and the throw-away culture. However, some arguments are slightly repetitive or under-developed, particularly when discussing local versus international brands. The conclusion reiterates the stance adequately. Overall, the response meets the criteria for Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The text demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, dividing the introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to signal progression, such as 'Undoubtedly', 'Firstly', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical, and the abrupt ending of the second body paragraph ('On the other hand, I feel that people need to choose clothes...') disrupts the flow. Paragraphing and logical sequencing are sufficient for a Band 6.0 score.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The candidate uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'top-tier quality', 'throw-away culture', and 'well-renowned brands'. However, there are notable word choice, collocation, and spelling errors, such as 'lagre amout' instead of 'large amount', 'higer prices' instead of 'higher prices', 'trow away' instead of 'throw away', and 'expessive' instead of 'expensive'. These errors do not impede communication, placing the response firmly at Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, with attempts at subordinate clauses and conditional structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('there is two reason', 'a number of local brands... provides'), article omissions ('choosing an expensive clothing', 'at the quite low cost'), and preposition misuse ('in low prices' instead of 'at low prices'). While these errors are noticeable and require some effort to parse, they rarely impede overall communication, warranting a Band 5.0.
