Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response responds to the task only minimally, and importantly, it fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 250 words, coming in significantly short at 210 words. While you attempt to address the prompt by discussing personal preferences and financial situations in relation to clothing, your position is not always clearly sustained throughout the essay. The ideas presented are limited and remain under-developed, lacking sufficient relevant examples or thorough explanation. For instance, your points about office meetings and high society are stated briefly rather than explored in depth. To move closer to higher bands, you must ensure that you write at least the minimum required word count and fully develop every main idea with comprehensive supporting details.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some basic organization present in your writing, with a discernible introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the essay lacks clear overall progression from one idea to the next. Cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, such as the overuse of transitional words like 'Firstly', 'On the other hand', and 'Therefore' without always creating a smooth, logical flow of thought. Paragraphing is used, but the internal connections between sentences can feel mechanical or unclear, as seen in the transition from discussing clothing costs to general skill acquisition. To improve coherence and cohesion, you need to use a wider and more accurate range of cohesive ties and ensure your ideas link together logically to guide the reader seamlessly through your argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary range is limited, relying heavily on basic and repetitive words throughout the text. There are noticeable lexical errors and issues with word formation, spelling, and word choice that cause some difficulty for the reader. For example, terms like 'Cloths' are used instead of 'Clothes', 'perferences' contains a spelling error, 'affordbility' is misspelled, and phrases like 'cheering and parising' or 'high scoiety' contain noticeable mistakes in collocation and spelling. To achieve a higher band for lexical resource, you should aim to build a broader vocabulary repertoire, learn the correct spelling and word forms of less common terms, and ensure your word choices are precise and natural for IELTS writing tasks.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You demonstrate a limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside a few attempts at complex forms that are often faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the response, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'because it can be put our impression', incorrect prepositions and patterns such as 'partially agree and disagree with both and which i will explain', and article omissions like 'from struggling background'. Punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after commas and capitalization slips like 'i', are also present and can cause difficulty for the reader. To improve your grammatical score, you should focus on increasing your control over basic sentence patterns, ensuring correct verb forms, and minimizing frequent errors.
