Student answer (Band 6.5)
In the modern era, most people perfer to buy expensive clothes rather than cheaper onces. I completely agree with this notion and have discussed various reasons in the upcoming paragraphs.
To comenence with, the prominent reason why usally people like to purchase expensive clothes is because the quality of clothes is very good and long-lasting. As we know, today's people are busy in their hectic schedule so they don't have time to spend on buying these things so they only spend it once in an year. As a result, people can utilize this time in other useful activities which are fruitful for their life as we buy gold but never buy time.
Moving forward, the second major reason is that the clothes are vary stylish and expensive clothes are according to trend. For instance, whenever people wear expensive clothes they get a lot of attraction as well as everyone asks, where they bought that peice of clothing. Moreover, premium clothes always enhance the person's appreances. Thus, people get comments from their relatives and peer which also boosts their confidence. As it has become a symbol of how rich a person is, these kind of clothing has been becoming a necessity to prove one's worth. It also makes people in business field more professional and doing well, which in turn can help them better present themselves in important meetings.
To conclude, it is evident that more costly clothes are better instead of cheaper ones due to their superior quality and longer lifespan.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by stating a clear position of complete agreement with the statement. The ideas presented are relevant, such as the superior quality and longevity of expensive items, as well as the social and professional benefits they provide. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others; for instance, the notion that buying expensive clothes saves time to focus on life activities is introduced but lacks sufficient extension or concrete support. The discussion on social status and professional presence is clearer and better supported. To reach a higher level, all main arguments need to be thoroughly extended and supported with fully articulated examples or explanations throughout the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Information and ideas are generally presented in a logical sequence, allowing the reader to follow the writer's stance. However, cohesion at times feels a bit mechanical or repetitive, using standard transitions like 'To comenence with' and 'Moving forward'. Referencing is occasionally slightly unclear, such as the loose pronoun referencing in the second paragraph. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to structure the essay, but the logical progression between sentences could be smoothed out for a more natural flow. To improve further, the writer should employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices without relying on formulaic transition phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating the writer's main ideas regarding quality and social perception. The student makes noticeable attempts to use less common items and phrases, such as 'hectic schedule', 'fruitful for their life', and 'symbol of how rich a person is'. However, there are several word choice, collocation, and spelling errors that prevent a higher rating, including 'perfer', 'onces', 'comenence', 'usally', 'vary' instead of 'very', 'peice', and 'appreances'. These lexical slips do not impede communication, but they highlight limitations in precision and control. To achieve a higher band, the writer must expand their lexical range and eliminate spelling and word-form inaccuracies.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional elements. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as article omissions and misuse like 'in an year' and 'these kind of clothing', but these errors rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear. The majority of simple structures are controlled, while attempts at complex structures occasionally introduce minor inaccuracies in agreement or prepositions. To move to a higher band, the writer needs to produce a greater frequency of error-free sentences while maintaining a wide variety of complex grammatical structures with precise punctuation.
