Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response touches on clothing choices, fashion trends, online shopping and shopping in malls, so it is broadly related to the topic. However, it does not clearly answer whether buying a few expensive clothes is better than buying many cheaper ones. The conclusion says people make different choices but gives no definite position, and the body paragraphs mainly describe what rich and poor people or shoppers do rather than explain the advantages or disadvantages of either option. The examples about people in your area and family are relevant starting points, but they are not developed to support an argument. The response is also six words below the required minimum. State your view directly, give reasons comparing the two choices, and extend each reason with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is an attempt to organise the response into paragraphs, and signposts such as “Secoundly” and “In conclusion” show an awareness of essay structure. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the paragraphs do not build a clear argument about the question. The opening and second paragraph repeat the idea that people have different preferences, while the later paragraphs shift between fashion trends, online shopping and malls without explaining how these points support a position. Linking words such as “However” and “To illustrate” are used, but the relationships between some sentences remain unclear. Plan one main point per paragraph, connect each example explicitly to that point, and make the conclusion summarise a consistent opinion.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response attempts vocabulary connected with the topic, including “fashion industries,” “economy,” “trends,” “afford,” and “expensive,” and it tries to vary expressions for clothing and shopping. However, frequent spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural word combinations make the message harder to understand, as in “cholthes,” “high prizes chlothes,” and “the quickly moving economy to the world.” Some words are repeated, particularly “choice,” “people,” and “clothes,” and several expressions do not convey a precise meaning. Build a reliable set of topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations. For example, use “clothing” or “garments” consistently, and describe prices as “high” or “expensive,” not “high prizes.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both longer sentences and basic sentence patterns, and some ideas can be understood despite the errors. However, sentence structure and grammatical control are inconsistent throughout. For example, “the majority is not the same choice” does not form a clear grammatical relationship, while “everyone have on time” has an agreement error and an unclear construction. Articles, plurals and verb forms are also often inaccurate, as in “a expensive chlothes” and “people wears.” Several sentences join multiple ideas without clear punctuation, which makes their meaning difficult to follow. Practise writing complete subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses carefully. Check agreement, articles and singular/plural forms, and use full stops to separate distinct ideas.
