Student answer (Band 5.0)
The issue of whether it is more beneficial to buy some expensive clothes, instead of purchasing econominal outfits has sparked considerable debate. Some believe that it is more advantageous to get few expensive dresses, while other argue that having a wide range of cheaper clothes is more usefull. In my view i agree with this argument, because expensive dresses have good quality and well designed that affects overall our presentation.
One of the main reasons i strongly support expensive cloth is that these are made up by good material.Good fabric material last longer as compare to low quality fabric in terms of color and texture. Although good quality fabrics are expensive, but it is worth to purchase. For instance if we comapre an outfit which is cheap with comprised quality with an expensive cloth with remarkable quality expensive clothes give

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You state a clear preference for expensive clothes, explaining that they are better made and improve a person’s presentation. The point about fabric lasting longer is relevant, and you begin to introduce a comparison between cheap and expensive clothing. However, the response addresses the task only partially: the comparison is unfinished, and there is no developed example or further reason to support your view. The opposing position is mentioned in the introduction but not considered in the argument. The response also does not meet the required minimum length, which leaves the position and supporting ideas substantially underdeveloped. To strengthen your answer, complete the comparison and explain its practical consequences, then add another reason or a relevant personal example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: the opening introduces the debate and your opinion, followed by a paragraph giving a reason for that opinion. Linking expressions such as “One of the main reasons” and “For instance” help signal the direction of the argument. However, the response does not develop a clear overall progression because the example stops mid-sentence and there is no conclusion. Some connections are also awkward or repetitive, such as “Although good quality fabrics are expensive, but it is worth to purchase,” where the contrast is not smoothly expressed. Use complete paragraphs with one developed point in each, and finish by summarising your position. Clearer links between the claim, explanation, and example would make the argument easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “fabric,” “quality,” “color and texture,” and “presentation.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “considerable debate” and “advantageous.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors are noticeable: “econominal outfits,” “expensive cloth,” “good material,” and “comapre” make parts of the response less natural or harder to understand. “Dresses” is also too narrow when the task refers generally to clothes. Aim for accurate, natural combinations such as “durable fabric,” “well-made garments,” and “a wider selection of affordable clothing.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise terms will improve clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “Although” and a reason clause with “because.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “Some believe that it is more advantageous to get few expensive dresses, while other argue” has article and subject–verb agreement problems. In “these are made up by good material,” the passive construction is not formed correctly, while “Good fabric material last longer” has agreement and number errors. The final example is incomplete, so its grammatical meaning cannot be fully understood. Practise accurate agreement, articles, and complete sentence construction, then check punctuation and sentence endings.
