It is better to buy just a few expensive clothes, rather than lots of cheaper clothes.

Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people find it more convenient to buy sets of expensive clothes while others argue that cheaper clothes provide the best alternative to it.
From my prespective, clothes that are of low cost should be purchased.
There are a couple of reasons for it.
Firstly, inexpensive clothes are budget friendly. They are cost effective and easy to buy. Moreover, they can be thrown away if damaged or have any sort of defects.
For instance, I bought a dress from a local market to wear it at a event. Unfortunately, it was defected so I replaced it with other dress at the same cost.
Secondly, affordable clothes can be wore once or twice at a particular event and there is no need to repeat them.
For example, I buy a couple of new dresses at an affordable range and style them according to a particular type of event. In this way I have a variety of options to wear.
Thirdly, the cost to repair damaged or defective clothing is less on cheap clothes as compared to over-priced clothes. Mostly, expensive clothes needs to be repaired from particular designers outlets as their designs and the emblishments are unique and difficult to find in the local market.
On the other hand, everyone cannot purchase expensive clothes. So it is waste of money to spend an ample amount of cash on extravagant attire.
Subsequently, fashion trends also changes over time. New options come and leave the market on daily basis. It is advisable to spend money resonably rather than blindly.
In conclusion, I agree that budget-friendly clothes serve the same basic purpose as over-priced clothes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear from the opening—“clothes that are of low cost should be purchased”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address the comparison by giving several relevant reasons: affordability, having more outfit choices, lower repair costs, and changing fashion trends. The personal example of replacing a defective dress also supports your view. This is a solid response because the main ideas are extended with explanations and examples. To strengthen it further, develop the comparison with expensive clothing more directly: the point about repairs is useful, but the claim that cheap clothes serve the same purpose could be supported with a clearer explanation of durability, quality, or value over time. Some claims, such as clothes being worn only once or twice, are also quite general.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a sequence of supporting points, a contrasting point, and a conclusion. Paragraphing and signposting such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the argument. However, the progression can feel mechanical because several points are introduced with numbered transitions, and the relationship between some ideas is not fully smooth. For example, the paragraph about wearing clothes once or twice shifts from affordability to variety without clearly linking the two. “Subsequently” is also not the most suitable connector for introducing changing fashion trends. Group related points into fuller paragraphs and use transitions that show the precise relationship between ideas; clearer references between examples and claims would also improve flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “budget friendly,” “cost effective,” “particular event,” “fashion trends,” and “extravagant attire.” These choices communicate your main ideas, but several expressions are inaccurate, awkward, or repetitive, which limits precision. For example, “defected” is not the right word for a faulty dress, and “emblishments” is misspelled; “over-priced” and “affordable” also recur without much variation. Some collocations, such as “sets of expensive clothes” and “at an affordable range,” sound unnatural. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling and word forms. More precise vocabulary for quality, durability, and value would help you compare the two options more convincingly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional clause in “if damaged” and a comparison in “as compared to over-priced clothes.” Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include “can be wore” instead of “can be worn,” “a event” instead of “an event,” and “expensive clothes needs” instead of “expensive clothes need.” There are also problems with sentence construction in “I replaced it with other dress,” which needs an article, and “there is no need to repeat them,” where the reference is not fully clear. Review articles, subject–verb agreement, and passive verb forms, then proofread each sentence for a complete and clear grammatical structure.
