Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response is relevant to the topic and gives reasons for both buying expensive clothes and choosing cheaper ones. For example, you say that better-quality clothes can last longer and fit well, while cheaper items may shrink after washing. However, the task asks whether you agree or disagree, and your position is not clearly stated or maintained: the opening says you will discuss “both views,” and the conclusion repeats both sides without answering the question. Several points are also unclear or insufficiently explained, such as the claim that branded clothes bring respect and confidence, and the discussion of copied brands. State your own view directly in the introduction and conclusion, then develop two or three relevant reasons with clear examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

Your response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The sequence from the advantages of expensive clothes to the disadvantages of cheaper ones is generally understandable, and phrases such as “firstly,” “On the other” and “To conclude” signal stages in the response. However, progression is limited because the paragraphs contain several ideas joined together without clear development, and some links are inaccurate or mechanical. For instance, “On the other” does not clearly connect the contrast, while the final sentence repeats the two sides rather than drawing the argument together. Organise each body paragraph around one main point, explain it, and use linking phrases that show the precise relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “longlasting,” “comfortable,” “material,” “branded clothes” and “businessparties,” so the reader can identify the general subject. However, the range is limited and many word choices, forms and spellings are inaccurate, sometimes making meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “commadate,” “quailty,” “realiable,” “low quanity” and “vaised.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “growing towards fashions” and “clues of copies.” Aim for accurate, natural phrases rather than trying to use many ambitious expressions. Learn clothing-related collocations such as “durable fabric,” “affordable clothing” and “make a purchase,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

There are attempts to connect ideas in longer sentences, including explanations with “because” and contrasts introduced by “while” and “on the other hand.” However, sentence structures are often faulty, and errors frequently make the intended meaning difficult to understand. For example, “people who afford good quailty of clothes … would be feel them longlasting goes” has problems with clause structure and verb forms; “low quailty clothes are not goes through longtime” also has incorrect agreement and verb construction. Articles, plurals and punctuation are inconsistent, as in “the both views” and the missing spaces after commas. Build accuracy with shorter sentences first, then add one clear subordinate clause at a time. Check subject–verb agreement, verb forms and sentence boundaries during revision.
