Student answer (Band 6.5)
Purchasing garments has become an essential part of life to fullfil daily needs. It is often suggested that people should spend funds to buy fewer branded clothes instead of buy inexpensive ones in bulk. I completely agree with view since expensive ones are durable.
One main benefit of buying expensive clothes is the durability attributed to it. This is because branded attires do not easily fade colors or torn-out, allowing them to stay last longer. Apart from this, they are comfortable, well-stiched and perfectly-fit, which significantly improves their relability. For example, professionals wear expensive clothes during special ocassions, such as meetings and parties due to comfortability and perfect fitting, allowing them to stay well-maintaned. As a result, this may boost up their confidence level. Therefore, buying expensive attires is beneficial for individuals.
Nevertheless, inexpensive clothes are poor in quality. Although these ones are easily affordable to purchase, these do not last longer. This is largely because overall material, such as fabric, color, and fitting is also of bad quality. That is why, they get fade in color and either get loose or shrink in size after few washes. Consequently, people have to recycle them, and buy new-ones very frequently. People may have to purchase them in bulk to satisfy their daily requiremnets, which may even cost them significantly.
In conclusion, I firmly agree that people should buy branded and expensive garments because this may alleviate the need of purchasing them too often. Even though cheaper ones can be inexpensive to purchase, due to their quality, individuals may to purchase frequently.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear from the introduction—“I completely agree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address both sides by explaining the durability and comfort of expensive clothes, then contrasting these with the shorter lifespan and replacement costs of cheaper garments. The example of professionals wearing better-fitting clothes for meetings and parties supports your point, and the reasons are relevant to the question. To strengthen the response further, develop the comparison with more specific support: for instance, explain how buying fewer durable items can reduce total spending over time, or give a concrete example of this. Some claims, such as cheaper clothes being poor in quality, are broad; qualifying them would make the argument more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear four-paragraph structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the main arguments, and a conclusion. Ideas progress logically from the benefits of expensive clothes to the drawbacks of cheaper ones, and linking expressions such as “Apart from this,” “Nevertheless,” and “Consequently” help signal relationships. The conclusion also returns to your stated position. At times, however, the links feel formulaic, and some references are unclear or repetitive. For example, “these ones” and “these” in the cheaper-clothes paragraph could be replaced with a precise noun such as “inexpensive garments.” The final sentence repeats the point about frequent purchases rather than adding a concise synthesis. Varying transitions and tightening repeated ideas would make cohesion more flexible.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “durability,” “branded,” “fabric,” and “fitting,” and you attempt less common expressions such as “alleviate the need.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “stay last longer,” “boost up their confidence level,” and “recycle them” do not express your intended meanings naturally. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “fullfil,” “stiched,” “ocassions,” and “requiremnets.” Some wording is repetitive, particularly “expensive clothes/attires” and “purchase.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; a smaller set of well-controlled expressions will communicate your ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including a reason clause (“This is because…”) and a concessive clause (“Although these ones are easily affordable…”). Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. In the introduction, “instead of buy” should be “instead of buying,” and “I completely agree with view” needs an article (“with this view”). In “allowing them to stay last longer,” the verb pattern is incorrect; use “allowing them to last longer.” The conclusion also has a missing verb in “individuals may to purchase frequently.” Review verb patterns after prepositions and modal verbs, as well as articles and sentence construction. More accurate control of these forms would improve clarity.
