Student answer (Band 6.0)
It has been widely said that quality is much better than quantity. The same implications applied to the clothing as good quality of clothes can be used for several times, whereas weak quality of materials may tear down in few days. However, it has been seen that trends often does not last for long time which means that fashion may change very frequently. Therefore, in my opinion, spending huge amount on clothing would be waste of money and buying cheaper fabrics is often beneficial.
To begin, in contemporary era, multinational companies introduced new patterns and design every months in order to increase their revenue which means that fashion which is widely popular today would not maintain the same demand tomorrow. Furthuremore, wearing the same design everyday feels boring and make a bad impression on colleagues when someone has the same outfit everyday for long period of time. It may affects their personality, self-confidence and motivation.
In addition, buying cheaper clothes may lend you a leverage which means that individuals may able to buy another pair of suits tomorrow. For example, spending 500 dollars on one suit seems quite expensive, instead of that they can spend 250 dollars today to buy inexpensive suits and keep rest of money for the future. This way of saving offers extra liberty to buy another suit when trend changes. This modern way of budgeting is essential and popular among the young people.
To sum up, although good quality of materials can be wore for many years, cheaper clothes provide an additional leverage to buy another one in future. It is undoubtful that quality matters when choosing products but in the modern era, financial management is significantly important.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you favour cheaper clothes because fashion changes and lower prices allow people to buy replacements. You also acknowledge the opposing point that better-quality garments last longer, so the response addresses both sides of the question. The examples about a suit costing $500 versus two $250 purchases help make your financial argument concrete. However, some reasoning is asserted rather than fully explained: for instance, the claim that repeating an outfit harms confidence or colleagues’ impressions needs clearer support, and the comparison does not establish that cheaper suits offer equivalent value. To strengthen the response, develop the trade-off more carefully and explain why affordability outweighs durability in your view. The position is evident, but not every idea is equally developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present reasons, and the conclusion restates the main argument. Sequencing expressions such as “To begin,” “In addition,” and “To sum up” make the stages easy to follow. This gives the essay coherent progression, although the linking can feel somewhat formulaic. Some connections between claims are also abrupt: the point about wearing the same design becoming boring moves quickly to its effect on personality and motivation, without explaining the link. In the second body paragraph, the example supports saving money, but its connection to changing fashion could be made more explicit. Use transitions selectively and build each paragraph around a clearer chain of claim, explanation, and example.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for the topic, including “quality,” “quantity,” “revenue,” “self-confidence,” “leverage,” and “financial management.” These choices help communicate your main ideas, and attempts at more formal vocabulary show ambition. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “weak quality of materials,” “lend you a leverage,” and “extra liberty.” There are also spelling and form issues, including “Furthuremore” and “everyday” where the meaning requires “every day.” These do not prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and naturalness. Prefer familiar, accurate combinations—such as “poor-quality fabric,” “give you greater flexibility,” and “fashion trends”—rather than reaching for formal-sounding expressions whose usage is uncertain.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “whereas,” “which means,” and “although.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, but errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction remain noticeable. For example, “trends often does not last” should use a plural verb, while “fashion may change very frequently” is more accurately framed as “fashion trends may change.” In “it may affects,” the modal should be followed by the base form; “individuals may able” also needs “be.” Other examples include “every months” and “can be wore.” Review agreement, modal patterns, and verb forms, then proofread each sentence. More consistent accuracy in these structures would make your varied sentences easier to read.
