Student answer (Band 6.0)

Clothing refers no only to cover the body but to look good in the same time. Purchasing cloths totally depends on for what purpose the cloths are being purchased. One can say that for daily use, a construction worker would rather purchase cheaper cloths instead of expensive branded cloths. While on the other hand a model or celebrity would buy expensive branded cloths even if he/she is buying those cloths for casual use.

It has been analysed that people nowadays prefer to impress others instead of feeling comfortable while purchasing cloths. For that reason most of the people push their financial limits and buy expensive cloths. Some people also buy expensive branded cloths because they intended to copy their favourite celebrity. Although, celebrities are being offered a hefty amount to wear branded cloths to publicity.

Generally it is observed that middle class people buy mostly cheaper cloths for daily use and only few branded expensive cloths to wear in parties or hangouts. which help them to purchase more cloths in the same amount of money. I belong to a construction industry that is why I think it is a wise decision. In the begning of my career, I have destroyed and torned many expensive cloths while working at construction site. Now, I also prefer to buy and wear cheaper cloths for daily routine.

A holistic view of the topic describes that it depends on for what purpose someone is purchasing cloths and what is their professional field. For celebrities and social media influencers it is adequate to buy few but expensive branded cloths and for the people who are working in construction or any other related industry should buy lots of cheaper cloths so that would not regret if they loose any of their cloth while working. For the people who they work in corporate sector buys both so that they can avail expensive cloths for any corporate event and can use cheaper cloths for other offical days.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address the question by discussing when cheaper or more expensive clothes may be appropriate, and your construction-site experience gives the response a relevant personal example. However, the task asks whether you agree or disagree with the claim that buying a few expensive items is better. Your position remains conditional rather than clearly stating how far you agree, and the conclusion mainly divides people by occupation. The points about celebrities copying one another and middle-class purchasing habits are relevant, but they are asserted more than explained. To strengthen the response, state your overall view directly and develop a consistent reason—such as durability, cost over time, or suitability for work—with a specific supporting example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, supporting paragraphs, a personal example, and a concluding overview. Ideas generally follow a sensible sequence, and phrases such as “For that reason” and “A holistic view” help signal relationships. However, the progression is weakened by moving between celebrities, middle-class buyers, construction workers, and corporate employees without clearly linking each group back to the central comparison. Some transitions are mechanical, particularly “While on the other hand,” and the sentence beginning “which help them” is not smoothly connected to the preceding idea. Organise the body around two or three reasons, use clearer links between examples and your position, and ensure each paragraph has a distinct focus.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for the topic, including phrases such as “financial limits,” “branded clothes,” “construction industry,” and “corporate sector.” These choices make the main ideas understandable, and there are attempts at more formal wording, such as “A holistic view.” However, repeated use of “cloths” and “expensive” limits precision, while several word choices or collocations are inaccurate: “cloths” should be “clothes,” “to publicity” is not natural in this context, and “avail expensive cloths” does not express the intended meaning clearly. Spelling slips such as “begning” and “offical” also reduce accuracy. Build a more varied clothing-related vocabulary and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “if they loose any of their cloth while working” and contrast between different occupations. The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity and control. For example, “which help them” is an incomplete sentence and has unclear agreement; “people who they work” uses an unnecessary pronoun; and “For the people … buys” has subject–verb disagreement. There are also problems with articles and sentence boundaries, as in “at construction site” and the lower-case “which” after a full stop. Review clause construction, agreement, and punctuation, then proofread each sentence to ensure it is complete and grammatically connected.
