Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, fashion industry is booming as compare to last one decade. Due to mass production of clothes, people have a choice to buy a lots of clothes on cheaper price. I personally believe that people should buy costly clothes if they are financially capable. Costly clothes has more advantages than cheaper clothes.

There are some benefits of expensive attires. Firstly, It is long lasting. Company who makes costly clothes always focus on quality than quantity. Quality of expensive clothes is mostly better than cheaper clothes. Although, It has more money but it will be worth to buy it. Secondly, people will get more comfort. It is proven that mostly people prefer branded clothes in order to get comfort especially while doing any physical workout such as yoga, gym or any other activities. Another advantage is that people will get less skin allergies. One recent survey states that individuals have more skin related allergies or reactions on their body when they are wearing low cost clothes.

On the other hand, Cheaper clothes will provide individuals wide range of varities. As a result, they will have a diffrent option to choose from but It will create more confusion while finalizing from diffrent option. In addition, Cheaper clothes also provide more designing clothes as compare to expensive clothes. Although, less costly clothes does not provide quality which will make people spend more and more money to buy clothes. Insted of that, it is better to purchace expensive clothes.

To sum up, cheaper clothes provides large amount of quantities, varities. But expensive clothes will provide quality, comfort and safer to wear for body. Hence, I believe that if individuals is able to buy expensive clothes than they should avoid buying cheaper clothes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you favour buying expensive clothes when people can afford them, and you return to this view in the conclusion. You address both sides by noting that cheaper clothes offer more variety and designs, while expensive items may offer quality, comfort and fewer skin reactions. These points are relevant, and the examples of exercise clothing and skin allergies help support your reasons. However, some claims are asserted rather than explained: for instance, the survey about allergies is not described, and the link between price and comfort or safety needs clearer support. The counterargument is also less developed than your case for expensive clothes. More specific examples and fuller explanation would make the response more convincing and complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, the body paragraphs present advantages and a counterpoint, and the conclusion restates your position. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “On the other hand,” and “To sum up” make the progression easy to follow. This gives the essay a coherent arrangement, though some linking is mechanical and ideas within paragraphs could connect more smoothly. For example, the move from comfort to skin allergies introduces another benefit without explaining how it relates to the previous point. The phrase “Although, less costly clothes…” also creates an unclear transition. Use fewer formulaic signposts and make the relationship between each claim and its explanation explicit; this would make cohesion more flexible and natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “mass production,” “quality,” “skin allergies,” “branded clothes,” and “wide range,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “financially capable” and “in order to.” However, noticeable spelling, word-form and collocation errors limit precision: “varities,” “diffrent,” “Insted,” and “purchace” are misspelled, while “a lots of clothes,” “more designing clothes,” and “large amount of quantities” are unnatural. Repetition of “clothes” and “expensive” also narrows the range. Build accuracy with common collocations and alternatives such as “garments,” “durable,” and “a wider selection,” and proofread spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional position (“if they are financially capable”) and a contrast clause beginning “Although.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but errors in agreement, articles, plurals and sentence construction recur. For example, “Costly clothes has” should use a plural verb, and “Company who makes” needs an article and a plural or correctly formed singular subject. “Although, It has more money” is not a well-formed concessive clause, while “if individuals is able” has subject–verb disagreement. Capitalisation after commas is also inconsistent. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, and revise concessive structures such as “Although expensive clothes cost more, they may last longer.” Greater control of these patterns would improve accuracy.
