Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is undeniable that it is good to buy one or two branded clothes which are long lasting and good quality, but little bit expensive rather than having many cheaper clothes from the local shops. While i agree with this statement,I believe that some people cannot afford to buy expensive branded clothes.
There are many reasons why some people agree that buy clothes from branded shopping malls. The first and foremost reason is that the quality of these clothes is really good than cheap clothes. They are very comfortable to wear and after many washes they still the same.Hence, people can use these clothes for long time and they never need to buy new clothes after months or weeks.Secondly, when individuals wear well known and expensive branded clothes like Gucci, Adidas,Nike etcetera they get some status in the public. Also, people prefer you that your are financially good .
However, there are some reasons why i believe that its not good for some people to buy expensive clothes every time. The prominent reason is that the financial budget of some people is low and they cannot afford to buy branded clothes. So,they prefer to buy litlle bit cheaper clothes. Moreover, in many countries like India , only one member of family is working and they have to take care of their whole family such as providing them food , clothes ,paying their water, electricity and phones bill and school and college fees. Therefore, it is really hard for them to manage all of this by only doing one job.
Furthermore, some brands are just for names but their quality is not so good enough and they are only expensive and not long lastings but some local shops clothes are good and available at reasonable prices.Hence, that is why people are prefer to buy these clothes because they are budget friendly as well as quality is good.
In conclusion,i would like to reiterate that although i agree that there are some benefits of having expensive clothes, i also believe that its hard for some people to really afford such kind of branded clothes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you support the benefits of buying durable, higher-quality clothes, while recognising that not everyone can afford them. You address both sides and give relevant reasons, including durability, social status, household expenses, and the possibility that some local clothes offer good value. This covers the task well. However, the discussion is uneven: the point about branded clothes bringing status is asserted rather than explained, and the family-budget example is broad rather than tied to a specific situation. The conclusion restates your balanced view but does not sharpen which option you ultimately consider better. Develop one or two examples more specifically and make your final judgement more decisive to strengthen the response further.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, paragraphs presenting advantages and limitations, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “However,” and “Furthermore” help readers follow the main points, and each paragraph has a recognisable focus. This gives the essay coherent organisation. At times, though, linking is mechanical or the relationship between ideas is not fully clear. For example, “Hence” and “Therefore” repeatedly introduce conclusions, while “Also, people prefer you that your are financially good” is difficult to connect smoothly to the status point. Some references, such as “these clothes,” are repeated rather than varied. Use transitions that express the precise relationship between claims, and ensure each paragraph develops its central idea in a clear sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “quality,” “comfortable,” “financial budget,” “reasonable prices,” and “budget friendly.” There are also attempts at less common expressions such as “prominent reason” and “reiterate.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning less precise. Examples include “they get some status in the public,” “people prefer you,” and “not long lastings.” Spelling and word-form errors such as “litlle” and “long lastings” also reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of natural phrases for discussing durability, affordability, and social perceptions, and check spelling and collocations during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “although,” “when,” and “because,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation are noticeable. For instance, “after many washes they still the same” is missing a verb, while “people are prefer to buy” uses an incorrect verb construction. In “your are financially good,” the pronoun and sentence structure are faulty. Several sentences also run together without appropriate spacing or punctuation, such as the opening sentence and “So,they prefer.” These issues make some passages less fluent. Practise accurate clause construction and verb patterns, then proofread for sentence boundaries, capitalisation, and agreement.
