Student answer (Band 5.5)

number of people in the world think that buying expensive clothes is more classy than buying more number of cheaper clothes but i disagree with that ,As i my thoughts one should not focus on the money that goes behind the item rather than buying items that are value for money.

In my opinion buying good quality clothes even if they are cheap in price is more convenient fot the pocket

now a days the young generation is turning there faces towards the thrift stores as we can find more value for money items in a fraction of price further more price of clothes nicer matter ,what matters is the quality and how you style it on top of that clothes never define who a person is what matters the most is how a person is from inside , personality masks all the luxury item on the body

the mindset of some people that wearing expensive clothes will make them feel included is just a lame thought that they have in there mind as confidence is the real outfit a person could wear and that looks the most peautiful and added kind personality puts this to a premium level

further more todays society is moving towards sustainability mindset that means reuse reduce and recycle that leads to a clean society aswell as grounded humans

No one should be judged on the basis of what they wear or how expensive the dress is but every one should be valued on the basis of how respectful and kind they are towards the society

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening: you disagree with prioritising expensive clothes and favour items that offer value for money. You give relevant reasons, including thrift shopping, personal confidence, and sustainability, and the final point about judging people by their character reinforces your view. However, the response does not fully compare the benefits of buying a few expensive garments with buying many cheaper ones. The thrift-store point is relevant but would be stronger with a specific example, and the ideas about personality and social judgement overlap without being fully explained. Develop each main reason with a clear explanation or example, and address durability or cost over time to make the argument more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable progression from your disagreement to reasons involving value, thrift stores, confidence, and sustainability, followed by a concluding statement. Linking phrases such as “furthermore” and “on top of that” help show connections between ideas. However, almost all the points are presented in one continuous block, so the reader cannot easily distinguish the main reasons or see how they build the argument. Some transitions are also mechanical, and several ideas run together in long sentences. Use separate paragraphs for your position, supporting reasons, and conclusion; organise each paragraph around one central point and use clearer sentence boundaries and references.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of relevant expressions, including “value for money,” “thrift stores,” “sustainability,” and “reuse, reduce and recycle,” which help communicate your ideas about affordability and responsible consumption. There are also attempts at more expressive language, such as “confidence is the real outfit.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unclear, including “more classy,” “price of clothes nicer matter,” and “personality masks all the luxury item.” Spelling errors such as “peautiful” and “fot” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural phrasing and check spelling; for example, explain that quality and styling matter more than a garment’s price rather than using an unclear comparison.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons and added information, so there is some variety in structure. The main message is generally understandable, but control is weakened by errors in sentence boundaries, punctuation, articles, and agreement. For instance, the opening joins contrasting ideas with a comma, while “as i my thoughts” does not form a correct clause. In “every one should be valued,” the subject and verb pattern is awkward, and several sentences lack full stops or capital letters. Practise building accurate complex sentences with one main clause and a clearly attached supporting clause, then proofread for capitals, commas, and full stops.
