Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this contemporary era, everyone just obssesed buying a clothes. Some opine that good quality ones are expensive but it has more merits instead of buying too many cheaper outfits. i am partially agree with this statement and will discuss my viewpoints in the upcoming paragraph.

There is no doubt that clothing is our basis neccessity. Masses think that expensive clothes has more merits. Firstly, the shine of branded clothing is fabulous it makes us feel confident and attractive . For example, if anybody going for an interview or meeting if person has expensive and brand new clothes on then he or she feel more energetic .Secondly, high price clothing gurantee for providing good stuff as we do not need to worry about colour faid as well as it is long term investment.

Therefore, middle class families cannot spend too much money on clothes. They prefer to buy online through the websites which gives a discount. For example, there are numerous of apps like shein lauch deals occassionally which benefits customers. Furthermore, individuals who works in the offices they need formal clothes monday to friday so they like to purchase more and more clothing to avoid repeating the same ones.

In conclusion, although expensive clothes has their own merits but a lot of people not buying it because of their personal reasons. consequently everyone should spend money on clothing according to their choice and budget.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a partly clear position—“I am partially agree”—and discuss both the appeal of expensive clothes and reasons people choose cheaper ones. The examples about interviews, colour fading, discounts and office clothing are relevant, but several points are asserted rather than explained; for instance, the claim that branded clothes make people “more energetic” needs clearer support. The conclusion says people should choose according to budget, but does not clearly state which side you ultimately favour or explain how this resolves your partial agreement. The response also falls 17 words short of the required minimum. Develop your position consistently, explain each main reason, and add a specific example or comparison to complete the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas broadly move from the benefits of expensive clothing to the affordability of cheaper options. Linking expressions such as “Firstly,” “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” help signal this structure. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the first body paragraph moves from appearance to interview confidence and then durability without fully connecting these points. The second paragraph combines budget constraints with the need for office clothes, but the relationship between them could be made clearer. Some transitions feel mechanical, and the conclusion introduces a general recommendation rather than directly resolving the argument. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example explicitly to the paragraph’s main claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “branded clothing,” “long term investment,” “discount” and “formal clothes,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “colour fade” and “personal reasons.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, sometimes making the meaning less natural: “basis necessity,” “shine of branded clothing,” and “guarantee for providing good stuff” are examples. Spelling errors such as “obssesed,” “neccessity,” “gurantee” and “occassionally” are noticeable. Build a more accurate set of clothing-related collocations and check spelling; for example, describe durability and value directly rather than relying on vague phrases such as “good stuff.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a conditional example about interviews and a contrast introduced by “although.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and verb forms occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Examples include “I am partially agree,” “expensive clothes has,” and “individuals who works”; these need “I partially agree,” “clothes have,” and “individuals who work.” The interview sentence also lacks clear clause boundaries, while “although … but” creates an incorrect paired construction. Capitalisation and spacing around punctuation are inconsistent. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and build complex sentences with one clear main clause and correctly joined supporting clauses.
