Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, clothing has bacome widely discussed topic. I completely agree that we should buy just a few expensive clothes, In stead of, multiple cheaper clothes.

The predominant reason why I hold this view is quality. This is because expensive clothes provide great quality and also they have longer sustainability. Another major reason is colors. For example, cheaper clothes colors often fades away after few months while, clothes that cost more money provide best quality consequently, colors remain same for longer period of time.

Moreover, costly clothes give luxury look. In other words, wearing expensive outfits enhance individual's impression. Lastly, clothes that are expensive have high quality fabric which make it completely safer for person's health. On the other hand, cheaper clothes manufacturing company use chemicals which can be dangerous to one's health.

To conclude, buying multiple cheaper clothes give you options to wear multiplt outfits however, expensive clothes surpassed them in quality.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is clear from the opening: “I completely agree,” and you give relevant reasons, including durability, colour retention, appearance, and possible health concerns. However, the response addresses the task only partially because these points are mostly asserted rather than explained or supported with a specific example. For instance, the claim that cheaper clothing may use harmful chemicals needs qualification or a concrete example, and the point about a “luxury look” could be linked more clearly to why buying fewer costly items is preferable. The conclusion briefly acknowledges the advantage of cheaper clothes but does not fully resolve that comparison. The response is also 96 words below the required minimum, leaving too little space to develop the argument. Extend each main reason with explanation and relevant evidence.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction states your view, the body presents supporting reasons, and a conclusion returns to the comparison. Sequencing phrases such as “The predominant reason,” “Moreover,” and “To conclude” help signal the stages of the argument. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and the relationship between points is not always smooth. “Another major reason is colors” introduces a point that could be connected more explicitly to quality and durability, while “Lastly” appears after “Moreover” without a clear hierarchy among the reasons. The final contrast with cheaper clothes is compressed into one sentence. Use clearer links between claims and explanations, and develop each paragraph around a distinct, connected idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “quality,” “sustainability,” “fabric,” “manufacturing,” and “impression,” and the reader can generally understand your argument. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “The predominant reason why I hold this view.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive: “longer sustainability” is not a natural way to describe clothing, “clothes colors” is awkward, and “provide best quality” needs a more precise expression. Spelling errors such as “bacome,” “multiplt,” and “In stead” also reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of natural clothing-related collocations and check spelling; this will make your ideas clearer and more precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause (“This is because…”) and a contrast introduced by “while.” The main meaning is usually understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “clothes … fades” has a subject–verb agreement problem, “wearing expensive outfits enhance” also needs agreement, and “fabric which make” should agree with its singular noun. Articles and sentence punctuation are inconsistent, as in “provide best quality” and the comma placement in “while, clothes.” The range of structures is still fairly limited, and some longer sentences are not controlled consistently. Practise agreement with singular and plural subjects, article use, and punctuation around clauses, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
