Student answer (Band 6.0)
Today's generation love spending money on clothes. Few of them buy less but expensive clothes while some buys a lot of cheaper clothes. It is said that buying a few expensive clothes is better than purchasing a lots of cheaper clothes. I partially agree with the statement and will give reasons in this task.
Firstly, buying and wearing expensive clothes brings up a positive attitude as well as confidence in a person. Branded clothes will be worth buying because they use best fabrics, threads, materials to give it the best shape. It will be also worth buying just beacuse it will last long more than cheaper clothes. The personality of a person changes after wearing those costly outfits. Brands never make the clothes of same design or same color, so that way spending money towards a brand gives us a unique outfits to wear. Buying expensive clothes let you explore more and more good looking outifts and let you select according your convinience. Buying expensive clothes leads to deduction in the carbon footprints, which actually helps to save environment.
On the other hand, not everybody is capable of buying expensive clothes every single time. There are many families with financial crisis, so for them buying cheaper clothes is better than buying expensive clothes. If we see their perspectivve than they will be enjoying more with couple of new outfits in less amount. Happiness matters more for people who cannot afford expensive clothes and so they get happy even buying cheaper clothes.
To conclude this , I would like to say that everybody has their own right to buy clothes accordingly but if a person decides to buy expensive clothes it will be beneficial for the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you partially agree, supporting the durability and environmental benefits of expensive clothing while recognising that cheaper clothes suit people with limited finances. These points address both sides of the question and are relevant. However, some claims need fuller explanation or more careful support. For example, you say branded clothes create confidence and that brands do not make the same designs or colours, but you do not explain why these points make buying fewer expensive items preferable overall. The environmental claim about reducing carbon footprints is also asserted without showing how buying fewer, longer-lasting garments achieves this. Develop the comparison more directly and make your final position consistent with the reasons you have presented.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting expensive clothes, a contrasting paragraph about affordability, and a conclusion. The transitions “Firstly” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the main shift in argument. Within the first body paragraph, however, several benefits are listed one after another, so the relationship between them is not always clear; the repeated focus on appearance and brands could be grouped and explained more logically. The conclusion also introduces a broad statement about everyone’s right to choose rather than clearly resolving the partial agreement stated in the introduction. Use clearer links between each reason and the central comparison, and make the final paragraph restate your qualified position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “financial crisis,” “carbon footprints,” “confidence,” and “unique,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts at less common expressions, but some choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “brings up a positive attitude,” “deduction in the carbon footprints,” and “explore more and more good looking outfits.” Spelling errors such as “beacuse,” “perspectivve,” and “outifts” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural combinations and precise wording, for example, explain that durable garments may reduce clothing waste rather than using an unclear phrase about carbon footprints. Proofreading for spelling and repeated wording would make your vocabulary more effective.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple sentences and some longer structures, including the contrast introduced by “while” and the conditional idea “if a person decides to buy expensive clothes.” Most of the meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “Today's generation love” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “some buys” should agree with the plural subject. In “a lots of cheaper clothes,” the article and plural form are incorrect; “a unique outfits” also has a number mismatch. Some sentence patterns are awkwardly formed, as in “Buying expensive clothes let you explore … and let you select.” Work on agreement, singular and plural forms, and constructing parallel verb phrases. More accurate control of these forms would make your varied sentences clearer.
